UPDATE: We Had a VERY Successful 2018 Gala of Trees!

If you were not able to stop by Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach during our 2018 Gala of Trees that took place November 14-17, you missed out on a holiday scene so beautiful it would have taken your breath away! The main goal for this incredible Lake of the Ozarks annual event wasn't just to make the Boot look pretty and festive for a week, but rather to raise money for some wonderful local organizations. Boy, did we ever do that!

A VERY Successful Fundraiser
This year the Gala of Trees was able to raise a whopping $20,015.86!!! Those proceeds were divided among 4 amazing organizations that each do their part to bring happiness to local lake area children and their families.

  • The Mirah Walters Scholarship Program - $1,000
  • The Jessica & Malachi Brazil Foundation - $1,000
  • Lake of the Ozarks Rotary Club - $8,015.86
  • Idiots Club - $10,000

The generosity didn't stop there! According to chairperson Christy Clark Janssen, many bid-winners donated their winnings back to spread even more holiday cheer.

"We had a humbling year for Gala of Trees by the generosity of the sponsors and buyers!! We were able to raise $20,015.86 to give to the Idiots Club, Lake of the Ozarks Rotary Club, Jessica And Malachi Brazil Foundation and The Mirah Walters Scholarship fund.

We had Steve and Debbie Rumple purchase a tree and donate it to be resold. We had Jason Huelett purchase the Mack’s Creek Kids tree. The kids decorate the tree to help give back for the money they have been given from Gala of Trees. Jason donated the tree back to the kids and they were thrilled. We had Bill Long donate his tree to CADV to a mom and two children so they have a Christmas Tree this year.

We can’t believe the generosity of all those who purchased items! My mom Pam and I can’t thank you enough. We were able to bring the 10 year total to $105,015.86 we are so thankful to all of you for helping and for giving." ~Christy Clark Janssen

Our Next Fundraiser
Wobbly Boots Roadhouse will be giving back to the community again through our upcoming Bourbon Fireside Dinner on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. This event is nowhere near as big as the Gala of Trees has grown to be, but it is a fun evening filled with delicious food, rare bourbons, and great company. Chef Kevin McCowan will be preparing a 5-course gourmet meal paired with bourbons from the hosting distillery, Buffalo Trace Distillery and Sazerac.

Tickets are $125 each, and a portion of those ticket sales will benefit the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club. This wonderful organization is very active in our community, helping local in-need children throughout the entire year. Tickets to this first in a series of Bourbon Fireside Dinners are limited to only 20. If you are interested, call 573-348-2277 to reserve your tickets or you can simply drop by Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach to pick them up in person.

Join Us Again Next Year!
If you were not able to attend the 10th Annual Gala of Trees this year, go ahead and mark it on your calendars for 2019! This amazing annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks always takes place the week before Thanksgiving week.

Join Us For The 10th Annual Gala of Trees

It's time once again to deck the halls of Wobbly Boots Roadhouse for one of our favorite annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks - the 2018 Gala of Trees! This will be the 10th year for this fantastic fundraising event, so we're doing our best to make it bigger and better than ever. The only thing we're missing is you!

Silent Auction
November 14-17
The Gala of Trees is an event that takes place every year prior to Thanksgiving. Our Lake of the Ozarks family BBQ restaurant is filled with gorgeous decorated wreaths and trees for the holidays that you get to bid on silent auction-style. Bids may be placed anytime between Wednesday, November 14-Saturday, November 17.

The holiday trees and wreaths are pre-decorated by local businesses and organizations with all kinds of interesting items, some that you would expect, and some that may surprise you, such as wine bottles, coupons, event tickets, discounts, and even more! Proceeds from this silent auction are given to Candyland and The Idiot's Club to purchase toys for local children. So, not only do you get some amazing decorations to take home, but you're helping out your community at the same time!

Kick-Off Party
Wednesday, Nov. 14
There is no charge to place a bid on trees and wreaths, but we will be hosting a ticketed Kick-Off Party beginning at 5:30 pm on Wednesday evening to really get this event started with a bang! Tickets are $20 each and include a buffet, one glass of Gala Punch, and a chance to win a very special Gala Christmas Wreath to be given away that night at 8 pm. This is a terrific way to kick-off not only this event but also your own holiday party scene.

Cans For Christmas
Friday, Nov. 16
Toys aren't the only items needed for the holidays. Local food pantries often need some help restocking their shelves, so we're dedicating Friday night during the Gala of Trees to this important cause. Bring 5 non-perishable items into Wobbly Boots Roadhouse on this day and receive an appetizer for half-price! (One per person) We have a lot of delicious appetizers to choose from, including those famous Wobbly Wings, and for some reason, they taste even better when they're half-price!

Silent Auction Ends & Live Auction Begins
Saturday, Nov. 17
Saturday is your last chance to come into the Boot and make your final silent auction bids. Don't take it for granted that your bid was the highest, because someone may have come in since you've been here and wanted that same gorgeous item just as much!

The silent auction closes at 8 pm, but will immediately be followed by a live auction for even more terrific stuff that you're going to want to take home. In other words, plan now to spend your Saturday night here with us!

We want to send a special thank you out to all of this year's Gala of Trees sponsors, listed on the flyer below, as well as to all of the wonderful businesses and organizations that take the time to decorate and donate fantastic trees and wreaths for this special occasion. Also, an extra-special, full of holiday cheer thank you goes out to Christy Janssen and Pam Leffringhouse. They are the ones responsible for starting this spectacular event which has raised and donated $85,000.00 over the past nine years!

Start your holiday season a little early right here with us at the 10th Annual Gala of Trees at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach November 14-17, 2018. The feeling you will get when you walk into this holiday wonderland, plus the fact that you are helping to give someone else a beautiful holiday, will truly get you into the spirit of the season. Join Us For This Year's Gala of Trees - November 14-18

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse has a welcoming down-home atmosphere all year long, but this time of year we get an early boost of holiday cheer! It's time for one of the most beautiful annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks - The 2017 Gala of Trees. You can view all of the gorgeously decorated wreaths and Christmas trees inside the restaurant between November 14-18, enjoy some fun events surrounding the gala, and possibly even take some lovely decorations home with you.

Gorgeous Decorations for a Great Cause
The Annual Gala of Trees is an event where local businesses and individuals volunteer to decorate a tree or wreath for the holidays to be entered into our silent auction. Everyone in the lake area is welcome to come in anytime during our regular Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant business hours and place their bid, and at the end of the event, if you're the highest bidder, that decoration is all yours to take home!

Proceeds raised from the Gala of Trees are given to Candyland and The Idiot's Club to purchase toys for local children that might not otherwise have a happy Christmas. The more you bid, the better chances you have to win, and the more children can be given a happy holiday.

Gala Kick-off Party
Tuesday, Nov. 14
We'll be hosting a Gala of Trees Kick-off Party to get this awesome event started. Tickets are $20 each. Beginning at 5:30 pm, everyone that joins us for the party will get a first look at all of this year's gorgeous creations. You'll find everything from traditional holiday decorations to trees covered in gift certificates for services, merchandise, and exciting experiences.

Tickets for the evening also include a buffet, one glass of Gala Punch, and the chance to win the Gala Christmas Wreath being given away at 9 pm. You can pick up your tickets any time from now until then at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse.

Ugly Sweater Contest
Friday, Nov. 17
Get ready to get ugly! On Friday night during the Gala of Trees, we'll be hosting an Ugly Sweater Contest. You'll get a chance to wear that "ugly" holiday sweater you only pull out once a year, plus get a good chuckle at everyone else's fashion choice. Check up on your bids to see if you need to up the ante to win your favorite tree or wreath, plus enjoy some fun giveaways and prizes we'll have throughout the night.

Take Home Some Holiday Cheer
Saturday, Nov. 18
The last bids for the silent auction will be taken by 9 pm on Saturday night, but that doesn't mean this year's gala is over! There will be a live auction for even more fun stuff taking place once the silent auction ends. Come in to Wobbly Boots BBQ for some dinner and to keep an eye your bid so nobody outdoes you at the last minute, then stick around for a few evening cocktails and the live auction. It's all for a good cause, and it's going to be a great time.

Mark your calendars now and plan to join us for the 2017 Gala of Trees event inside our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ Restaurant. It's always a gorgeous and fun event that Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is proud to be a part of, and it benefits many local families. If you'd like to sponsor a tree or wreath at this year's gala, please contact Christy Janssen at 217-779-2768 or email her at cjanssen1970@gmail.com.

Local Kids Benefit From the Gala of Trees Holiday Event

The Annual Gala of Trees, which is making it's move to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse this year, is not only a fun way to pick up some incredibly unique holiday decor for your home, but it's also a wonderful way to lend a hand to some children that might not otherwise get to enjoy Christmas this year. Your favorite Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant is teaming up with other local people to help out the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club and the Lake Ozark Rotary's Candyland program to make this season bright for many local kids.

The Gala of Trees

This fun Lake of the Ozarks annual event was formerly hosted at Bootleggers Sports Book & Grill, but this year Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is extremely proud to have inherited such a marvelous event. It all starts with a kickoff party on Thursday, November 17 to unveil the decorated wreaths and trees, and then the silent auction will take place from Thursday night until Saturday night, November 19. Dale Blue will be here to entertain the crowd on Saturday while we find out who the lucky winners are!

We explained the big details in last week's blog "Join us For The 7th Annual Gala of Trees," but here are the basics. Various businesses have volunteered to decorate trees and wreaths donated by Lake Regional Hospital with all kinds of unique and exciting decorations. People from the lake area are encouraged to come in, check them all out, and then bid on their favorites. Winning bidders will get to take these pre-decorated beauties home with them when the auction is over.

Here is a peek at last year's Gala of Trees, followed by a little more information about the wonderful organizations that are donating the money raised to many local families needing a hand this holiday season.

Candyland
The 33rd Annual Candyland at the Lake of the Ozarks opens on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in the Stonecrest Mall, the day before the Gala of Trees at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. It is put on by the Lake Ozark Rotary to promote generosity during the Christmas season through gift donations for underprivileged children in the Lake area. People are encouraged to visit Candyland, pick one of more candy canes with children's Christmas wishes on them, purchase the items, and then return them for Candyland's Rotarian volunteers to wrap and deliver.

Proceeds from the Gala of Trees silent auction sales will go toward buying some of these gifts. The Lake Ozark Rotary's mission is for leaders to come together with a shared vision and cooperation making a difference through service above self.

The Idiots Club
This group describes themselves as "a charity dedicated to helping youth in need in the Lake area, while in the pursuit of silliness!" They make our community a better place, and they do it in a way that allows them to have fun while they're at it. The Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club was founded by a couple of retired educators, Denny and Danna Hiner, who witnessed firsthand the problems that students dealt with on a daily basis.

According to their website, currently over 60% of the children in the lake area live at or below the federal poverty line. The group works through social agencies and civic groups, as well as many area schools, including School of the Osage, Camdenton, Climax Springs, and Macks Creek, to discover the needs of children in the area. In the past, they have been able to supply items such as shoes for sports, school art supplies, dental care, Buddy Packs food for kids, clothing, school club participation fees, car batteries for working kids, and much much more. Through the Gala of Trees, they are able to provide a happy holiday for families that might not otherwise have one at all. Idiots Club member, Christie Janssen, has organized the Gala of Trees from the beginning.

Join Us November 17-19
Our family friendly Lake of the Ozarks restaurant will be filled with some of the most incredible holiday decorations that you have ever seen from Thursday, November 17 through Saturday, November 19 this year. Please take some time to stop by Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, check out the amazing creations that have been donated, and spend a few dollars to make a local child's holiday special. We open daily at 11 am, and bidding will continue through Saturday evening when Dale Blue will be onstage entertaining the crowd. Begin your holiday season with us, and pick up a gorgeous pre-decorated tree or wreath while you are here.

Join Us For The 7th Annual Gala of Trees at the Boot!

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach has become the new home for one of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks - the Gala of Trees! You don't have to go to the trouble of finding a naked Christmas tree and dragging out your big box of ornaments this year. Instead, purchase a fully decorated one that is already beautiful and ready to display, all while helping out a couple of wonderful local organizations.

Annual Gala of Trees
Every year since 2010, the lake area has been taking part in this incredible holiday event. It originally took place at Bootleggers Sports Book & Grill, but will be making its debut at Wobbly Boots BBQ for 2016. The restaurant will be filled with completely decorated trees and wreaths, and patrons will be invited to bid on them through a silent auction. The highest bidder at the end of the event will get to take their tree or wreath home to display throughout the holiday season.

You will see a wide variety of unique themes and unusual ornaments at the Gala of Trees. There is sure to be something perfect for everyone, no matter what your holiday decorating style may be. It's a great way to save some time this season, but even better, it's a wonderful way to brighten someone else's holiday at the same time. All of the proceeds collected from the tree and wreath sales are given to Candyland and the Idiot's Club. Both of these organizations use the money to provide toys for lake area children that might not otherwise receive gifts this season.

Thursday, Nov. 17
This 3-day event begins with the Gala of Trees Kickoff Party on Thursday beginning at 5 pm. Tickets are $20 each, and everyone in attendance will enjoy delicious appetizers and soups, one glass of Gala Punch, and the exclusive chance to win the Gala Christmas Wreath that will be given away that very evening at 9 pm. The remaining silent auction trees and wreaths will remain on display for bidders throughout Saturday night.

Friday & Saturday, Nov. 18-19
All day and night on both Friday and Saturday, everyone is welcome to pay a visit to the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and check out these amazing, one-of-a-kind Christmas trees and holiday wreaths. The bidding is open to everyone, and the highest bid at the end of the day on Saturday will be declared the lucky winner.

To close out this awesome event with real style, we'll have the Barefoot Entertainer himself, Dale Blue, on stage Saturday night. Swing by, order up some dinner, and enjoy the entertainment while we wait to see who lays claim to these great holiday decorations.

You can help too!
The easiest way to help is by stopping by and making an impressive bid on one or more of the Gala trees. If you would like information about being a sponsor, please contact the event organizer, Christy Janssen, by calling 217-779-2768 or emailing cjanssen1970@gmail.com. Trees and wreaths are provided for you to decorate by Lake Regional Hospital. All you have to do is volunteer to provide the decorations, then put your imagination to work thinking up a design that will have everyone climbing over each other to bid on.

We can't wait to see the incredible trees and wreaths that everyone comes up with for Wobbly Boots Roadhouse's first time hosting the Gala of Trees. Be sure to mark your calendars now so that you don't miss a minute of the excitement!
