Jim Beam has been producing the highest quality Kentucky bourbon since 1795. That means they have had over 200 years and seven generations to perfect what can be described as an art for them.

Bourbon was officially declared "America's native spirit" by congress in 1964. The reason for that being that bourbon can only be made here in the United States. An interesting fact from Jim Beam's website states:

"It can't say "bourbon" on the label if it's not distilled and aged in the United States. It can't be "Kentucky Straight Bourbon" unless it's distilled and aged in Kentucky for at least 2 years. And it can't say Jim Beam® unless it's been made by seven generations of one family."

Give us a call at 573-348-2277 to reserve a seat for our Beam Fireside Chat. It's going to be a night filled with the best food at the Lake of the Ozarks paired with the most amazing whiskey cocktails from Jim Beam. An even better idea would be to skip the phone call and simply come on in to make your reservation. While you're here, you can grab an early Jim Beam drink at the Wobbly Boots Roadhouse bar to get your taste buds prepared!

Celebrate National Soup Month at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

January is designated as National Soup Month, which seems like pretty perfect timing to us here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. The weather is cold outside, but a hot, delicious bowl of soup is the perfect thing to warm your bones, as well as the rest of your body. The best restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks serves up incredible soups, as well as lots of other mouthwatering menu items to go along with them, seven days a week.

Baked Potato Soup
Wobbly Boots BBQ offers our amazing Baked Potato Soup every single day of the week. This one is simply too popular to fit into our "Soup of the Day" rotation. Customers want it available to them all of the time, and that's exactly what we do!

Big chunks of potato are featured in this rich and creamy soup, and the hearty goodness is garnished with cheddar-jack cheese, crumbled bacon, and green onions. You're getting a dose of 3 of the 5 major food groups right in there, and if you enjoy it with a few crackers, well that adds a fourth. Add a nice glass of orange juice (or a cocktail with OJ in it) and you've got a well-balanced meal!

Soup of the Day
Even if you love our Baked Potato Soup, occasionally everyone craves a little variety. For this reason, we also offer a "Soup of the Day." You can always give us a call before heading in to our family friendly Lake of the Ozarks restaurant to find out what we're serving, or you can just go ahead and come on in. You'll already know that whatever it is, it's going to be delicious!

We switch up the kind of soup we serve daily, depending on which awesome flavor the chef feels like whipping up, and some of the savory soups that you can expect are:

  • Beer Cheese & Sausage Soup
  • Cheeseburger Soup
  • Tortellini Soup
  • Creamy Cajun Chicken & Noodle Soup
  • Ham & Bean Soup
  • Vegetable Beef Soup
  • Chili
  • White Bean Chili

Appetizer, Alone, or a Combo Meal?
A hot bowl of soup is enough to make a meal for some people. Others prefer to enjoy a cup before ordering another meal from our menu. We've put together a few sandwich, soup, and salad combinations for our diners too. Those combo meals include a big ol' bowl of the soup of your choice, plus it also comes with one of the following:

  • Crisp Garden Salad
  • Turkey & Swiss Melt
  • Ham & Swiss Melt
  • 4-Cheese Grilled Cheese (a grown up version featuring American, Provolone, Monterey Jack, & Cheddar)
    • (*all sandwiches are served on grilled sourdough bread)

Hot & Satisfying
No matter how you decide to order up your favorite soup at our BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, know that when you're done your body & soul will be all warmed up, and your tummy will be full and happy. Soup is great anytime, but National Soup Month, and the cold weather, gives you the perfect excuse to come in to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse and give a few of our soups a try. Bundle up, jump in the car, and we'll expect to see you soon!

We Love BBQ Lovers, & They Love Us Right Back!

We've had a few days to reminisce about the past year, and we've come to the conclusion that 2016 was a pretty good year for our BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. We had a lot of fun serving all of the wonderful customers that dined with us, and apparently a lot of them enjoyed their meals at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse as much as we loved serving them.

What makes us think that? Well, the reviews that we discovered across the internet had some pretty nice things to say. Don't just take our word for it though. Take a look below and see for yourself.

"This restaurant was recommended by some locals we talked with earlier today. The food was good, service also good. Good atmosphere, sports on the screens. Many choices, great appetizers, many selections from sandwiches to Barbecue of all types. I would recommend this restaurant, good on all accounts and reasonably priced."
-James S, Bethel Park, U.S, TripAdvisor review

"Great place to eat some BBQ and southern comfort food! Not expensive! I tried fried pickles, smoked meatloaf, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese! Loved it all! Highly recommended!"
-Bobby M, Facebook review

"Great place to watch a game. Great food. Great staff. Overall, just great! A must-go-to place when we're at the Lake. The rib/wing appetizer with no sauce on either really lets you get a sense for how good their smoking is. Don't pass this one up if you're at the Lake."
-Bob K, Lee's Summit, MO, Yelp review

"Recommend this restaurant to families and couples. Excellent food and customer service!"
-Susan H, Facebook review

"Wobbly Boots is in my opinion the best bar-b-que at the lake. We have been going to Wobbly Boots since they started in their small location and now in the bigger spot. I always get the pulled pork sandwich with their season fries. My hubby gets the brisket. Big screens to watch the game. And they have live music. If you are heading to the Lake of The Ozarks, stop in Wobbly Boots. You will not be disappointed."
-patramsey 1966, St Louis, MO, TripAdvisor review

"Perfect wings! We ordered the sampler w Wings, bacon wrapped shrimp, and a couple of other choices. All of the food was delicious, especially the wings which were cooked perfectly."
-Courtney W, Zomato review

"Best smoked chickens wings going. You got to try them. Always great service and awesome BBQ."
-Steven K, Facebook review

"My mom and I often dine here whenever I'm passing through Osage Beach. A few of the servers often recognize us and automatically have our sodas brought out to us upon our arrival. Food is always hot, and we are treated graciously."
-euphoriczoo, Jefferson City, MO, TripAdvisor review

"The food was very good. I had the Pulled Pork Nachos. Get the half order unless you want a doggie bag. The prices were good for the amount of food you get. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend!"
-Chris W, Boonville, MO, Yelp review

"The very best prime rib I have ever had.... great atmosphere...great food...amazing service"
-Robin H, Potosi, MO, Facebook review

"The smoked turkey is ah-maz-ing!! Curly fries, brisket, and fried pickles are great too. Good food and comforting country atmosphere. We make it a point to stop at least once for dinner on our annual trips to the lake."
-Maribeth C, Zomato review

"Quality food matched with prompt, friendly service. There are several BBQ places here at the Lake, but Wobbly Boots is the best of the bunch."
-dpgertner, Lake Ozark, MO, TripAdvisor review

"Always good it's a every Sunday stop on are way home."
-Mike M, Camdenton, MO, Facebook review

5 New Year's Resolutions To Attempt In 2017

When a new year rolls around, a lot of people decide to make a fresh start by making a few resolutions. Usually it's some type of self-improvement, and often it's a promise to do more nice things for others. Just in case you need a little bit of inspiration, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse has come up with a list of 5 resolutions for you to give a try.

Meet New People
A great way to expand your horizons is to get to know new people. Everyone has their own story, and you can learn a thing or two just by striking up a conversation with someone new. You can always find a friendly face behind the Wobbly Boots BBQ bar to strike up a conversation with, or swing by during your favorite team's game and get to know a few fellow sports fans. Between our 21 televisions, there's bound to be a great game on.

Pay It Forward
Imagine what would put a smile on your face, then do that thing for someone else hoping for the same result. It can be an act of kindness that doesn't cost you any more than time, like opening a door for someone. If you have a little extra cash to spend, anonymously send a round of drinks or an appetizer to the table across the room from you. If you strive to do one nice thing a day, or even once a week, before you know it, it will become second nature to you.

Try Something New
Start small, like trying a brand new food that you've never had before. Our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant can probably help you out with that one. (Unless you've braved the entire menu already!) More than likely you've fallen in love with our mouth-watering, hickory smoked BBQ, but there are a lot of other flavors on our menu that may be new to you.

For example, our fried Catfish BLT is a flavor combo that will tickle your taste buds, or you can try our grilled Salmon BLT if you prefer that fish. We also serve an amazing Crusty Cuban filled with house pulled pork, pit ham, pickles, house mustard, and Swiss cheese. If you simply can't give up ordering your "regular" when you come in, maybe just order a different side dish than you normally choose. Once you get the small task of trying a new food out of the way, you'll have the confidence to tackle something even bigger and newer to you!

Quit Smoking
This can be a tough one if you've been a smoker for a long time, but New Year's Day seems to be a popular time to resolve to quit. It's a lot healthier for you, and it's also good for the people around you. (Like those new friends you'll be making this year!)

Our family friendly restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks can help out with this while you're here. Our place is a non-smoking establishment, so no one else will be lighting up and tempting you. It's a perfect spot to try to quit.

Take A Trip
The United States is a great big place, and there are many exciting areas to explore. If you already live in the lake area, you don't have to go too far from home at first. Plan a day trip just a few hours away. We hear Clive, Iowa near Des Moines is an interesting town, and the best part is that they have a Wobbly Boots Roadhouse of their own, so you'll feel right at home!

If instead you live outside of the Lake of the Ozarks, then taking a trip here to us is a must! The summer is the busiest time of year, but you will find fun things to fill your time no matter what season you make the trip. The Boot can entertain you year-round, and our sister restaurants - Dog Days Bar & Grill and Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina - not only feed you spring through fall, but also offer some of the best live entertainment and events at the Lake of the Ozarks. An amazing vacation destination!

Start Your New Year At The Boot!

We've tried to give you a few ideas to get your new year started out on a positive note, and we've also got an incredible idea for the best way to end the current year - with a great big, out-of-this-world, exciting New Year's Eve party at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

This Saturday, December 31, we are hosting the best New Year's Eve party at the Lake of the Ozarks! There is no cover charge at the door, and in addition to our regular menu, we'll be serving a special New Year's Eve selection of deliciousness until 10:00 pm. We'll also be sharing a champagne toast at midnight, and you can enjoy some incredible rock music performed by Hott Mess from 9:30 pm - 1:30 am. Our Incredibly Immense Whiskey Menu At Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

One thing that we absolutely love to pair with the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks, as well as everything else on our extensive menu, is a good whiskey. The bar at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is stocked with plenty of delicious varieties to choose from - more than 45 varieties, as a matter of fact!

If you are already a whiskey drinker, then you most likely have a favorite. Anyone that is new to the drink may be a little overwhelmed at all of the choices. It's tough to know where to begin when there are so many to pick from. Here's a little background information on this delicious spirit to help you make that decision.

Whiskeys differ in the main ingredient, alcoholic content, and quality. Malt whiskeys are made up mainly of malted barley, and grain whiskeys can be made from any type of grains, such as corn, rye, or wheat. Depending on the way a distiller combines the ingredients, the following types can be produced:

Blended - different types of whiskey are blended together, sometimes from different distilleries

Single Malt - made from only one type of malted grain and from only one distillery; unless it is labeled as "single cask," it may be a blend of more than one year from more than one cask

Nearly every country makes its own version, but the four featured below are the most popular, and Wobbly Boots BBQ happens to have them all behind our bar.

American Whiskey
We currently have 39 American whiskeys on our menu, 27 from Kentucky and 4 from Tennessee.
  • Bourbon - This is made from a mash of at least 51% corn. The majority of American bourbon comes from Kentucky.
  • Rye - This is distilled from a mash of at least 51% rye.
  • Tennessee - What makes whiskey from this state special is that it must be filtered through charcoal. Otherwise, the distillation process is similar to that of a bourbon.
  • Examples from our bar
    • Blanton's (Frankfort, KY)
    • Angels' Envy Port Cask (Louisville, KY)
    • Jim Beam Black (Clermont, KY)
    • Gentleman Jack (Lynchburg, TN)
    • Hudson Baby Bourbon Rye (Gardiner, NY)
    • Ozark Distillery Whiskey (Osage Beach, MO)

Canadian Whiskey
Whiskey from our neighbors to the north tends to be light-bodied and fruity, and they are most often blends. It must be made in Canada and aged at least 3 years.
  • Examples from our bar:
    • Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye (Toronto, Ontario)
    • Black Velvet (Valleyfield, Quebec)

Irish Whiskey
Similar to Canadian whiskey, yet with a more robust flavor. It must be made in Ireland and aged at least 3 years.
  • Examples from our bar:
    • Jameson Irish Whiskey (Cork, Ireland)
    • Jameson Irish Whiskey Caskmates (Cork, Ireland)

Scotch Whisky
Once again, this must be distilled in the country it is named for - Scotland. It must mature in an oak cask at least 3 years. Most are distilled two times, but some go through the process more, as many as twenty times. You might also notice that any whisky from Scotland does not contain the "e" in the name.
  • Examples from our bar:
    • Glennfiddich 14 Year (Dufftown, Scotland)
    • The Glenlivet 12 Year (Banffshire, Scotland)
    • Chivas Regal (Keith, Scotland)
    • Monkey Shoulder (Dufftown, Scotland)

If you want to become an aficionado, there is a lot more to learn, but that basic information should get you started. Once you decide which whiskey to try first, one of our talented bartenders should be able to help you pick out a few delicious menu items that will go well with it. Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is not only a great place to hone your whiskey skills, it's a tasty place to do it too!
