3 Excellent Reasons to Enjoy an Ice-Cold Beer at the Boot This Weekend!

There's something indescribably delicious about washing down the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks with an ice-cold beer. Most people don't need any more reason to make that happen other than it sounds, and tastes, great. If you need a little more incentive to get off the couch and get yourself to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse to enjoy one of our 21 beers on tap, then this is the weekend you've been waiting for!

Friday is New Beer's Eve
April 6th is the unofficial holiday celebrated by beer-lovers everywhere to commemorate the night before beer could once again be sold legally after the repeal of Prohibition. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Cullen-Harrison Act on March 23, 1933, followed by his famous remark, "I think this would be a good time for a beer.

He, along with everyone else, had to wait until April 7, 1933, before this was legally allowed. On the night before, April 6, lines of anxious people began forming outside of breweries and taverns, eagerly awaiting the stroke of midnight when they could buy a beer for the first time (legally) in over 13 years. Luckily, today we don't have to wait for midnight. We can celebrate this important moment in American history all day long!

Saturday is National Beer Day
Saturday the celebration continues! Since April 7th was the official day when beer could once again be purchased, this date is now a holiday celebrated all across the United States. Beleive it or not, it took until 2009 before someone had the good sense to bring some attention to the date.

National Beer Day was first created by Justin Smith of Richmond, VA only 9 years ago in 2009. Smith's friend convinced him to dedicate a Facebook page to the day, and that page was noticed by Colorado Beer Examiner, Eli Shayotovich. After Smith began promoting the day on various social media outlets, his efforts were rewarded with the beer drinking app "Untapped" creating a badge especially for National Beer Day. #NationalBeerDay has been trending ever since.

The holiday was officially recognized by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe in 2017, as well as on the Congressional Record by Congressman Dave Brat that same year. Just this year, in 2018, House Joint Resolution 90 was introduced in Virginia General Assembly to officially recognize National Beer Day in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It took a while, but now you can come into the Boot and celebrate this old/new holiday here with us!

5 Reasons You Should Eat BBQ For Dinner (or Lunch!)

"What's for dinner?" is a question you ask yourself daily, and when there's a group of people involved in the decision, it can be very difficult to all agree on the same thing. Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach believes that the answer to that question should always be "the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks!" but of course, we may be a bit partial. Still, after you read the following reasons, we know you'll agree.

#1 - It Tastes Great!
You may think you know what to expect from a BBQ restaurant, but they're not all created equal. When you bring the gang to Wobbly Boots BBQ, you're all in for a surprising treat! First of all, we give our meats their mouthwatering flavor by slow-smoking them over hickory to bring out an intense, rich taste. After years of practice and perfection, our cooks know exactly how long to leave each meat in the smoker to ensure that it reaches its highest flavor potential.

The other thing that gives our hickory-smoked meats an extra edge over all the others is the special dry rubs that we use to prepare them and the house recipe BBQ sauce that we pair them with. Put it all together and you've got our hybrid style of BBQ which was inspired by the 4 BBQ meccas of the U.S.A.: Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, and Texas. We learned from the greats, but created a flavor that you will only find here at the Boot!

#2 - An Excellent Variety
When some people hear BBQ, they sometimes limit their idea of dishes to chicken, burgers, and steak like they might grill at home. On the contrary, our menu has a wide variety of different meats that we hickory-smoke, which include but are not limited to:
  • Hand-Pulled Pork
  • Beef Brisket
  • Turkey Breast
  • Pit Ham
  • Smoked Sausage
  • Burnt Ends
  • Baby Back Ribs
  • Spare Ribs
  • Smoked Chicken
  • Wobbly Wings
Those meats can either be ordered piled on a plate next to one of our homestyle side dishes, or we can put them on a bun for you to enjoy. You'll also find many of the meats above used as ingredients in lots of the creative dishes on our menu. You'll have to come back often to try them all!

#3 - BBQ Pairs Well With Beer & Sports
Sports fans will be thrilled to find out that they can enjoy BBQ while catching all of their favorite games on our 21 TVs and giant projection screen. They are each placed strategically around the restaurant so that no matter where you sit, there's not a bad seat in the house for watching the game.

An ice-cold beer is an excellent beverage to wash down a plate full of hickory-smoked BBQ with, and here at our Lake of the Ozarks bar and restaurant, you can choose from a wide variety of bottled beers and 21 different brews on tap. We've got a fully stocked bar too, so if you're in the mood for a cocktail instead, we've got you covered.

#4 - Food All Ages Love
If it's the family that you're trying to convince rather than a group of friends, our family-friendly atmosphere and down-home hospitality will make everyone feel right at home. Young diners will be pleased with the choices on our kids' menu, which include favorites like Chicken Tenders, Mini Corn Dogs, Burgers, Grilled Cheese, Mac & Cheese, and even a Cheese Quesadilla. We've also got a kids' version of our Pork Sandwich in case they're ready to start moving toward becoming a smoked meat lover.

The kids get foods they are comfortable with and already love, and you get the chance to enjoy a grown-up dinner with your own favorites, as well as brand new dishes to try. Something that makes the experience even better is that since you're eating at our place, we'll take care of the cleanup when you're done!

#5 - The Boot Is More Than BBQ
There's always that one person in every group that won't agree with you, and for that particular friend, you can let them know that the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks has more than just BBQ on our extensive menu. For example, we've got Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and Cajun Dusted Shrimp on our appetizer menu, incredible salads and savory soups, the best burgers in the Midwest, and even BLTs made with salmon or catfish. One glance through our menu and everyone in your group is sure to find something perfect to cure their hunger.

While writing today's blog we've certainly convinced ourselves that dinner at our family-friendly restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks sounds like the perfect idea tonight, and we're willing to bet that you think so too! Now all you have to do is share this wisdom with your friends and family and you'll be dining at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in no time.

3 Amazing Restaurants To Enjoy This Season!

Spring is nearly here, which means the waterfront "summertime" hangouts are getting ready to open their doors. When you are looking for the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks, you will find that year-round at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. If you're in the mood for some lake view dining, we've got 2 incredible sister restaurants on the water that are opening this Friday, March 9, 2018 - Dog Days Bar & Grill and Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina.

Our Barrett Restaurant Group "family" takes serving you the most delicious food and drinks very seriously, and no matter which place you visit, expect a delicious meal, friendly service, and an overall great time! Here is a little more information about each of us.

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse
The Boot is the home of the lake area's most savory, mouthwatering, hickory-smoked meats and out-of-this-world house recipe BBQ sauce. In addition to amazing BBQ dishes, we also serve fresh salads, tasty soups, delicious sandwiches and wraps, Black Angus burgers, Southern comfort foods, and homestyle sides to go along with it all. You will even find some incredible seafood dishes on our menu, plus delicious steak dinners, including a hickory-smoked prime rib dinner that is so special we save it for Friday and Saturday nights only.

We've got a fully-stocked bar featuring 21 beers on tap, some enticing Mule cocktail recipes, and an unbelievable whiskey selection. Wobbly Boots Roadhouse offers a family-friendly atmosphere for dining with the ability to handle both large and small groups. There's even a "front porch" area for you to enjoy your meal on! If you happen to be a sports fan, we're definitely the place that you want to be. We have 21 televisions placed strategically around the restaurant so there's not a bad seat in the house, plus a giant projection screen. All of this fun and deliciousness is available to you year-round.

Dog Days Bar & Grill
Our "eldest sister" has been a popular waterfront bar & restaurant serving the lake area since 1993, originally known as the "Salty Dog." There you will find something for everyone. They have a wide range of favorite dishes on their menu each year, including Chef's Signature Burgers, Crab Legs, Gourmet Tacos, and the best Seafood Nachos in town. Each season they also come up with a wonderful variety of new dishes to tempt your taste buds with and often feature limited-time monthly menus. Last year they created some fresh and healthy Beach Bowls, and we can't wait to taste what the chef comes up with for this year!

Last year, brand new pools were added for everyone's lakeside enjoyment. One is family-friendly, and the other includes a swim-up bar and plenty of in-water tables to hold all of those delicious drinks, including the ever-popular frozen Pain in the A**. There was still a lot of construction going on last season around the pool area, and this year the product of that is a brand new, larger kitchen and the opening of a new Rooftop Patio Bar overlooking the pool with a breathtaking view of the main channel of the Lake of the Ozarks.

The Dog is well-known for hosting the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks, including the lakeside concert that brings thousands of people to the area each July, AquaPalooza, plus their very own Homegrown Festival featuring Missouri music, beer, and spirits, and the family favorite, the Canine Cannonball. You will also enjoy amazing live music on their indoor and outdoor stages all season long. With lots of seating both inside and out, there's plenty of room to bring the family and invite all of your friends.

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina
Our other "sister" is not only the best Cajun waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, but also features an incredible marina and C-store, plus 2 vacation rental houses for you to stay in while you're at the lake. The restaurant brings people back year after year with authentic Cajun dishes featuring rubs and spices direct from Louisiana, including their World Famous Crab Cakes, Crawfish Etouffee, Po Boys, and Gumbo.

There are plenty of traditional dishes on their menu too, like mouthwatering steaks, savory seafood, prime rib burgers, incredible wraps and sandwiches, and you'll even find a Pulled Pork Sandwich on the menu made with Wobbly Boots Roadhouse's award-winning recipe. When it comes to cocktails, they simply can't be beat! Shorty Pants has a wonderful wine selection, ice-cold beers, and signature cocktails which include muddled Mojitos and Cajun Bloody Marys.

The marina and C-store offer gas and other necessities for your boating needs, plus snacks, package liquor, soft drinks, sunglasses, suntan lotion, and much more. You can rent a covered dock slip for your boat or jet ski, allowing you to also take advantage of the many extra amenities that the marina has to offer.

The vacation rental houses sit next door to the restaurant and marina, offering an incredible lake view and a comfortable and roomy place to stay while you are in town. The Glass House sleeps up to 8 guests, and the Red House has room for up to 16.

Join in all the fun at Shorty Pants by walking only a very short distance next door, or you can even relax and listen to their awesome live music on the weekends right from the rental house decks. You can check availability and book a vacation house online through the Shorty Pants website, or visit www.Homeaway.com and type in the house's listing number. (the Glass House: 825630vb, and the Red House: 830216vb) Both options offer more details and photos of each house.

Whether you're in the mood for mouthwatering BBQ, New Orleans-style cuisine, or great food to enjoy poolside and lakeside, the Barrett Restaurant Group family can take care of you! We love seeing you here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse as often as possible, but visiting our sister waterfront restaurants and bars at the Lake of the Ozarks should be on your to-do list too.
