Memorial Day Weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's finally here... Memorial Day Weekend!  Here at the Lake of the Ozarks, this particular holiday means the tourists are on their way and the locals are ready to have their boats in the water.  (That is, if they could wait this long to drop them in!)  Wobbly Boots Roadhouse may not be located on the water, but the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks still brings people into town for a bite to eat between their water activities.

Memorial Day is very special to all of us here in the USA because it is the day that we take the time to remember those that defend our wonderful country.  Lots of families and friends also take this 3-day weekend to gather for picnics, barbecues, and fireworks displays.  The Lake of the Ozarks has all of those things for you here alongside the beauty of the Lake area.

Hosting a cookout doesn't have to be a lot of work.  Let Wobbly Boots Roadhouse take care of the cooking so that you can relax and enjoy the day with everyone else.    We offer the best catering at the Lake of the Ozarks. To provide the best service and product possible, we always take our catering clients on a first come - first served basis, so the earlier you make your large group request, the better.  If there are just a few of you, call ahead and order some food to go.  We will prepare it, pack it up, and send you on your way with some finger-licking, mouth-watering, taste-temping items to pack your picnic basket with!

There are lots of beautiful spots around the Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy your picnic at. There are two State Parks in and near Osage Beach with picnic areas and gorgeous views. Ha Ha Tonka has multiple, beautiful areas to hang out with your group and enjoy the weekend.  If you don't desire being near the water, all of the towns around the Lake area have wonderful parks to celebrate at with play equipment for the kids.  If you have an active group, you can start up a game of kickball or softball too.

We've also got fireworks all around the lake!  A few of the displays around the area are:
  • Saturday, May 23:
    • Bear Bottom Resort in Sunrise Beach is hosting their fireworks display at 9:45, and they will have live music going on throughout the evening.

  • Sunday, May 24:
    • Tan-Tar-A Resort is shooting off fireworks after 9 pm.  They are on KK & at the 26 MM by water.
    • The Lodge of Four Seasons fireworks will also start after 9 pm.  They are on Horseshoe Bend Parkway & at he 13 MM by water.  They will also have a carnival open at 5 pm.
    • Village Marina is shooting off their fireworks at the 3 MM on the Northshore.
    • Both the Tropic Island and the Celebration are taking reservations for those wanting to watch the fireworks from the water.

We look forward to seeing you here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse for at least a little bit of your holiday.  Stop by and have a bite to eat with us, or belly up to the bar for a drink and to catch up on the weekend's sports.  Whatever you choose to do to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend, please be responsible and stay safe.

Thank You For Voting Us "THE BEST"

Lake Lifestyles magazine polls their readers each year to find out who they think is "The Best of the Lake" in numerous categories.  This year, the Lake of the Ozarks favorite restaurant and bar - Wobbly Boots Roadhouse - was voted the best in not 1, not 2, but in 3 categories! Now that's some exciting news to get.  There are lots of good places to eat here at the Lake, and to come out on top is something that we accept as a great honor.  We promise to be the best that we can be each and every day that we are open because we love our customers, and we want you to come back again and again.

Best Place to Watch the Game

We LOVE sports here at the Boot, and our customers can get the best view of all of the games right here.  We have 16 televisions throughout the restaurant, along with a giant projection screen.  There is plenty of seating at the bar to watch all of your favorite teams, but you can also see multiple tvs from every table in the restaurant.

Best Bar Food

Whether you're in the mood for our famous hickory-smoked wings, giant hand-breaded onion rings, or something else just as hearty and satisfying, we've got the best bar food  at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Not only that, but we boast the best Happy Hour to go along with it.  Monday-Friday and all day Sunday you can find some of this mouth-watering bar food on special along with our delicious drinks.

and last, but certainly not least-

Best BBQ (5 years running!)

Wobbly Boots BBQ is a unique blend of flavors & styles of the BBQ meccas of the U.S.:  Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, Texas, and the deep south.  That alone gives us the unique flavor that the Lake of the Ozarks just can't get enough of, but to make it even better, we make our House-recipe BBQ sauce right here in the restaurant.  You won't find BBQ as tasty and delicious as this anyplace else.  (Unless, of course, you visit Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive, Iowa.)

Thank you!

So once again, we would like to throw a great big THANK YOU out to everyone in the Lake of the Ozarks that voted for us.  We promise to keep bringing you the best of everything that we do here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, and we look forward to being able to earn your votes again next year.

5 Reasons Why We LOVE Our Lake of the Ozarks Tourists!

This week, May 2-10, is National Tourism Week, and that has all of us here at Wobbly Boots BBQ thinking about all of the amazing people that we get the chance to meet each new summer season.  Don't misunderstand, we still LOVE our regulars.  They play a huge part in getting the word out to the tourists that Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is the best BBQ Restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.  People visiting our wonderful town can't help but stop by when they hear how much our local patrons love us.

What makes a tourist someone special?  Well here are 5 reasons why this Lake of the Ozarks restaurant welcomes them with open arms:

  1. Tourists help to wake up a hibernating Lake of the Ozarks.
    • We all still live, work, and play here over the winter, but when Spring rolls around, specifically around St. Patrick's Day, we start yearning for the lively Summer season.  Tourists bring along a hustle with them that really makes the Lake area feel awake again.
  2. Tourists' vacation-vibe spills over to us.
    • When we see visitors that are all happy and excited to be on vacation, we can't help but pick up some of those happy, excited vibes ourselves.  Seeing someone enjoy themselves doing what we get to do every day helps us to appreciate it just a little bit more.
  3. Tourists give us a new perspective on our hometown.
    • Living here all of the time, sometimes we forget to see exactly what is in front of us.  It starts blending into the background after a while.  When we get to see a tourist enjoying something that we have started to take for granted, we get a chance to enjoy it all over, seeing it like it's brand new again.
  4. Tourists love to hear why the Lake is special to us.
    • There are plenty of things that never get old, even if you do live here year-round.  Tourists LOVE to hear about all of those things that are so fun that we never get tired of them.  The best thing you can do for a visitor is to send them to your favorite places in town (like Wobbly Boots Roadhouse!) so that they can experience the REAL Lake of the Ozarks like we see it.
  5. Tourists expose us to a little of their own hometowns.
    • Part of the fun of living in a vacation town is getting the chance to hear about all of the places that our tourists are visiting us from.  Striking up a conversation with a tourist while you are sitting around the bar can lead to a very entertaining evening.  Sometimes, even a brand new friend to keep in touch with.

So, there you have it.  Tourists are a large part of what makes the Lake of the Ozarks a great place to be in the summer.  Locals- take a little time this week to invite someone form out-of-town to visit us.  They are sure to fall in love with the area and come back again and again. Tourists- be sure to let us know where you are visiting from when you stop into Wobbly Boots Roadhouse.  We love experiencing your town through your stories, too.
