If You Had To Choose... Baby Back Ribs OR Pork Spare Ribs?

The best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks comes out of the Wobbly Boots Roadhouse kitchen in Osage Beach year-round, 7 days a week. You'll find lots of delicious dishes to choose from that are seasoned with our special dry rub, hickory-smoked to perfection, and served with a healthy helping of our housemade BBQ sauce.

One of those menu items in particular, our amazing ribs, is a staple for any restaurant that claims to specialize in BBQ. Here at Wobbly Boots BBQ, we actually serve two different types of ribs; Baby Back Ribs and Classic Pork Spare Ribs. Some people have a strong opinion about which type they prefer. Here's some information on each one that might help you decide which to order.

Baby Back Ribs
The name of this delicious dish does not come from the age of the animal, but rather the smaller size of the ribs compared to classic spare ribs. They are also the tenderest and leanest ribs you can order with meat both between and on top of the bones. These are taken from the top of the rib cage between the spine and spare ribs, below the loin muscle.

Baby back ribs are sometimes referred to as back ribs, loin ribs, or Canadian ribs. The latter is due to the fact that Canadian bacon comes from the same loin meat that is connected to these ribs. Generally, baby back ribs have between 10-13 curved bones that are 3-6 inches long.

Here at the Boot, our Baby Back Ribs Dinner can be ordered as either a full or half-slab of tender, meaty ribs. First, they are coated in our special dry rub. After that, we slow-smoke them, lightly grill them, and baste the ribs with our secret recipe sauce before putting them on a plate next to Texas toast and your favorite side dish.

Pork Spare Ribs
Spare ribs are flatter than baby back ribs and tend to have less meat, but since they are also a fattier cut, that often causes them to be one of the most flavorful cuts. They are taken from the belly side of the rib cage, below the section of back ribs and above the breast bone.

Our Classic Pork Spare Ribs Dinner at the Boot is an experience that true BBQ lovers thoroughly enjoy. Available as either a full or half-slab serving, our special dry rub is used to coat the juicy ribs and then they are slow-roasted over hickory logs until they reach the perfect degree of mouthwatering goodness! A big ol' slice of Texas toast and one of our homestyle side dishes complete the dining experience.

Ribs... & More!
If you're not in the mood to order the best hickory-smoked BBQ ribs at the Lake of the Ozarks for your main dish, consider having them as an appetizer instead. We've got a couple of different combo appetizers that include this tasty treat. There's also a rib combo dinner that allows you to enjoy two magnificent meats on one plate.

Ribbies & Wings
Two of our most popular items on the same plate! Four individual pork spare ribs with our house recipe BBQ sauce and six Wobbly wings with your choice of sauce.

The Wobbly Boots Sampler
Some of the best of what we have to offer! Four spare ribs slathered in BBQ sauce, four Wobbly wings, four onion rings, and four bacon wrapped shrimp. A mountain of food suitable for a big meal or sharing!

BBQ Chicken & Ribs Combo
A delicious combination of mouthwatering 'que! Half of a BBQ chicken and a half slab of pork spare ribs both glazed with our housemade sauce.

It doesn't really matter how you choose to get your rib-fix on, but where you satisfy those cravings makes a huge difference! Make sure you head on over to the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks for a plateful of our irresistible, hickory-smoked ribs. No matter which type you prefer, Baby Back or Spare, as long as they're from Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, you know both types are bound to be incredibly good!

Food & Fun for the Whole Family at the Lake of the Ozarks

Dinnertime is an excellent time to catch up and reconnect with the family. Since August happens to be Family Fun Month, our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant has a few reasons why bringing the gang to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach is both fun and delicious for the whole family. You get some quality time out together AND fantastic food to enjoy. Win-win!

Family-Friendly Atmosphere
Our smoke-free family restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks has plenty of seating for groups both large and small. That means you can come in with just you and the kids or invite Grandma, Grandpa, all the cousins, and everyone else along to join in the family fun.

Our friendly staff will make sure you are well taken care of and they’re always happy to offer suggestions if you can’t decide which dish to order. As a bonus, if you have a family full of sports fans, we’ve got 21 TVs and a giant projection screen so you can all cheer on your favorite teams together while you eat.

Foods Kids Love
Kids can be picky about what they're willing to eat and many young children have not yet developed a love for BBQ like the grownups. That's not a problem at Wobbly Boots BBQ because our kids' menu is filled with items that children love.

Give them a dab of our house-recipe BBQ sauce for dipping and they may be well on their way to a lifelong love of our hickory-smoked menu items. Until they're completely ready for that, here are the tasty treats we have for kids ages 12 and under.

  • Kids Burger with Fries
  • Kids Chicken Tenders with Fries
  • Grilled Cheese with Fries
  • Mini Corn Dogs with Fries
  • Pork Sandwich with Fries
  • Cheese Quesadilla
  • Mac & Cheese Boat

Grown-Up Favorites Too
There are a lot of places that children love to eat that don’t really offer much for adults to enjoy. That’s not the case at the Boot! You can get just as excited as the kids when you dine with us because our menu is filled with down-home deliciousness that simply can’t be beat.

Whether you’re in the mood for hickory-smoked meats, classic BBQ dinners, big fresh salads, down-home sandwiches, or Black Angus burgers, you’ll find all of those plus a whole lot more on our extensive menu.

Finger-Lickin' Fun
Once you start adding our mouthwatering housemade BBQ sauce to a meal, things tend to get a little messy. (Face it, most kids love getting messy!) The best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks tastes so good, you simply can’t take the time to wipe your mouth between every bite… that would take too long to get to the next bite!

The more you get on your hands, it’s literally “finger-licking good!” Let the kids have some messy fun at our place instead of yours. (You’re more than welcome to join them!”) Don’t worry, it washes off easily, and we’ve got lots of wet wipes handy.

Take Some Tasty Fun Home
Relive some of the dinnertime fun you all had together by picking up a bottle of our house recipe BBQ sauce before you leave. Carryout is always an option too, allowing you to spend extra time with the family at home because you don't have to spend any time in the kitchen.

The next time your family is trying to decide where to go for dinner, just say "Wobbly Boots Roadhouse!" After hearing that, the kids will be racing you to the car!

School will be back in session soon and everyone will be busy getting back to a routine. Before the happens, join us at the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks for some quality family time with each other, making memories together in the most delicious way possible!

Join Us For Catfish Month at the Boot

We're willing to bet that you had no idea August is National Catfish Month. It was news to us here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse too but now that we know, it gives us the perfect opportunity to focus on a menu item many don't even realize we offer.

It's a well-known fact that your favorite BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is an expert at hickory-smoked meats. Today we're here to tell you how incredible our catfish dishes are as well.

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, Lake of the Ozarks, BBQ

Catfish at the Boot
The menu at Wobbly Boots BBQ features catfish in two of our tasty menu items. One in sandwich form and the other as a hearty dinner plate.

Catfish BLT
A southern-style catfish filet coated in seasoned cornmeal and fried to a golden brown. It's served on a hoagie with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and Cajun mayo alongside one of our homestyle side dishes.

Catfish Dinner
Two delicious southern-fried catfish filets served with tartar sauce and a slice of lemon. The dinner also comes with Texas toast and your choice of one of our homestyle side dishes.

Did You Know...
National Catfish Month has been around since 1988. It was created to recognize both the industry surrounding the fish and the fact that it's a versatile and sustainable food available year-round. You probably already know it's incredibly delicious, but here are a few more fun facts that may be news to you.
  • While June 25 is observed as National Catfish Day, the entire month of August is dedicated to this tasty fish.
  • The name catfish was given to them because of the long barbels around the fish's mouth that resemble the whiskers of a cat.
  • They don't have scales! All catfish (there are nearly 2,900 species of them) are either naked or armored.
  • While wild catfish are bottom feeders, farm-raised catfish are taught to eat pellets that float on top of the water.
  • The largest catfish ever caught happened in 2005 in Northern Thailand. It weighed in at 646 pounds and was 9 feet long! (That's as big as a grizzly bear!)
  • Legend says that giant man-eating catfish live deep below Bagnell Dam, but divers swear it's just a myth. (Or is it...) The largest catfish ever caught in the Lake of the Ozarks (on record) was 103 pounds and nowhere near big enough to swallow a diver.
  • In the Southern United States, slang names for catfish include "mud cat, "polliwogs," and "chuckleheads."
  • Catfish are high in protein and contain no carbohydrates. They are also an excellent source of B Vitamins and phosphorus.

If Catfish doesn't happen to be your fish of choice, we also have some amazing shrimp and salmon menu items that are incredibly delicious. Of course, if you're not in the mood for seafood at all, we've got the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks ready and waiting for you, year-round, 7 days a week! Come on into Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach soon and discover the many mouthwatering possibilities.

Celebrate National Chicken Wing Day the Most Delicious Way Possible

National Chicken Wing Day is coming up again next Monday, July 29, 2019. Lucky for you that the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks just so happens to serve the most amazing chicken wings in the Midwest! The Wobbly Wings at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse are one of our most popular menu items, making them the perfect dish to celebrate this awesome holiday with.

Wobbly Wings at the Boot
Just what makes Wobbly Wings so darn good? Our hickory-smoking expertise is a big part of that! First, we take jumbo chicken wings and generously coat them in our house dry rub. Next, they are slow-roasted in our hickory pit to ensure the perfect degree of doneness.

Once they're ready for serving, the best hot wings at the Lake of the Ozarks are so good that they can easily be enjoyed sauceless. We do have some terrific sauce choices available though, so you may just want to give one of these a try.

  • BBQ -Our house recipe BBQ sauce. (A great addition to anything!)
  • Original - A mustard-based sauce like no other. Try it, you'll be hooked!
  • Chipotle Buffalo - Our incredible version of a traditional Buffalo sauce.
  • Teriyaki - Sweet and delicious!
  • Trashed - Our smoked wings deep-fried before serving.

Hot Wing History
As is the case with most legendary tales, the origin of today's hot wing is a bit cloudy. One fact is for sure. They were first introduced in Buffalo, New York in 1964, hence the popular name "Buffalo wings." The rest of the history is up for debate.
  • The most popular origin stories revolve around Teressa Bellissimo, a Buffalo, New York restaurant owner. One account chalks the appetizer creation up to a mistake. She and her husband Frank were expecting a delivery of necks, which they used to make spaghetti sauce for their establishment, the Anchor Bar. Frank convinced her to get creative rather than waste the shipment. Teressa chose to deep-fry the naked wings, toss them in some hot sauce, and serve them up with bleu cheese dressing and celery sticks.
  • Their son, Dominic, remembers the story a little differently. He says that his mother created the wings after he asked her to make up something special late on a Friday night. Most of their customers were Catholic and weren't eating meat on Fridays. Since they had been spending lots of money in the bar that evening, Dominic wanted to offer them a special treat at midnight as a thank you for their patronage.
  • One last twist on this particular tale was that Teressa came up with her amazing wings one night when Dominic and his friends from college came in hungry. The one thing that all of these stories has in common is Teressa and her delicious creativity.
  • There is one story that does not involve Mrs. Bellissimo. John Young says that he grew up eating chicken wings and he created a special "Mambo Sauce" to go with them. His wings were breaded before they were deep-fried and the drummies and flats were not separated before cooking. He registered the name of his restaurant, Wings 'n' Things, in the mid-'60s before he left Buffalo in 1970.

Perfect For Every Meal
Chicken wings are definitely a dish that deserves a special day all its own. Not only are they mouthwateringly irresistible, but they can be enjoyed in a variety of different ways at many times throughout a day.

For example, they're the perfect way to start your meal as an appetizer before a main dish of more of the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks. They're hearty enough to be the main dish on their own as well.

It's a wonderful food for sharing with a table full of friends. (But you'll probably want to make sure everyone has their own ranch or bleu cheese to avoid any double-dipping accusations!) Our wings are available in orders of 5, 10, or 20 in the restaurant or as many as 50 if we cater them for your events and celebrations.

These wonderful wings are also featured in a couple of our popular combo appetizers. You can order Ribbies & Wings featuring 6 Wobbly Wings and 4 pork spare ribs. Your other option is even bigger, the Wobbly Boots Sampler, with 4 Wobbly Wings, 4 spare ribs, 4 onion rings, and 4 bacon wrapped shrimp!

No matter how you decide to order them, just make sure you get to Wobbly Boots BBQ in Osage Beach soon and order them. They're sure to land at the top of your list of favorite foods from now on!

BBQ is Simply IRRESISTIBLE! Ever Wonder Why? Find Out Here...

It's easy to convince people to come in for BBQ because it's a type of food that is simply irresistible! The hard part is making it taste good enough that they come back for more. That's not a problem for us at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach! A person's natural desire for BBQ combined with our award-winning way of preparing it creates the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks

Just what is it about BBQ that makes it a meal that's so hard to resist? We've got a few ideas on that subject we believe you're going to agree with.

The Aroma
The very first sensation that grabs you when it comes to BBQ is that scent that makes your mouth water immediately! Once you step into the dining room at our Lake of the Ozarks family restaurant, you're already hooked. (Sometimes it even hits you in the parking lot before you make it through the doors!)

Quickly after that amazing scent hits your nose, you're stomach is bound to start rumbling. If you weren't already hungry before, you most definitely are now! Any food that can do that to your sense of smell is definitely one you want to treat your sense of taste with.

The Flavor
The art of BBQ requires patience because the best flavors come out when the cooking is done low and slow. Wobbly Boots BBQ chooses to smoke our meats. This process allows us to create the most tender, juicy, flavorful meats possible, always slow-smoking them over our favorite wood - hickory.

First, we generously coat the meats with our secret-recipe rub. It then gets a carefully selected amount of time in the smoker. The reason we use hickory is that it lends a rich, full-bodied flavor to all of our meats. Once it's done, those meats get a dose of our house recipe BBQ sauce, and the result is a mouthwatering flavor that is irresistible!

The Variety
BBQ, especially the type we serve at the Boot, is also a very versatile meal. There are all kinds of delicious dishes to choose from, and we put them together in a variety of ways so that even the "same old meat" you usually order can be enjoyed in a delicious and fascinating new way.

We serve savory hickory-smoked meats on their own, but also as an additional ingredient in most of the dishes we serve. These meats include (but are not limited to):
  • Hand-Pulled Pork
  • Beef Brisket
  • Burnt Ends
  • Turkey Breast
  • Pit Ham
  • Smoked Sausage

The Boot Makes It Easy
The very best part about eating BBQ at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is the fact that we take care of all of the cooking for you! Even the most skilled grillmaster will admit, it takes a lot of work to make the best BBQ, so when someone else can do it deliciously, it's a lot easier to let them! All you need to do is show up and enjoy, and we'll even clean up the plates for you when you're done!

The next time you're craving something amazing for lunch or dinner, head on over to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse for a taste of our mouthwateringly delicious hickory-smoked BBQ. The savory aroma will get your attention and the flavor... well, let's just say, we'll be seeing a lot of each other from there on out!

10 Popular Menu Items You've Gotta Try at the Boot!

The menu at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is packed full of delicious dishes that are all taste-tempting treats. When asked for suggestions on what to order, it's really tough for us to pick between all of the yummy choices.

Depending on which server you ask, the lists all vary slightly. (There are just so many items to pick from!) Today we've put together ten menu items, in no particular order, from the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks (along with a few non-BBQ dishes) that are popular orders among our regular diners.

Wobbly Wings
Our JUMBO chicken wings have been bringing people to our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant since we originally opened the doors. The house dry rub that we prepare them with is fantastic, and the slow-roasting process over hickory turns them into the most mouthwatering wings you've ever tasted.

Diners enjoy eating them plain, but we've also got irresistible sauces to coat them in: BBQ, Original, Chipotle Buffalo, and Teriyaki, or you can order them Trashed (our smoked wings deep-fried before serving.)

Ribs
You can't run a successful BBQ restaurant without having some amazing ribs on the menu like these! Our dry-rubbed Baby Back Ribs and Classic Pork Spare Ribs spend the perfect amount of time in the smoker. Then they're lightly grilled and basted in our delicious house recipe BBQ sauce. We offer a half rack option, but if you get the full rack, that could mean you'll have tasty leftovers later! (Although it's tough to quit eating once you get started!)

Burnt Ends
This delicacy starts out as Beef Brisket, but the small chunks from the ends of the beef are removed, double rubbed, double smoked, and coated in a delicious beer BBQ sauce. This extra special treatment turns them into the tender, flavorful pieces of beef that customers at the Boot can't seem to get enough of! Only available while they last! (But don't worry, we'll make more!)

Pulled Pork Nachos
You might not expect to see Nachos on a BBQ menu, but it all makes sense once take a look at the taste-tempting toppings we put on our version. Tri-color tortilla chips are covered with spicy queso sauce and then topped with our own hickory-smoked pulled pork, baked beans, cheddar-jack cheese, tomatoes, and onions. That's a lot of deliciousness for just one plate, but don't worry if it sounds like too much, because we offer it in a half-order too.

Turkey Avocado Wrap
The Turkey Avocado Wrap isn't the only wrap on our menu, but it's one that definitely gets ordered often around here. The main ingredient is our hickory-smoked 100% breast of turkey. We surround that with avocado, avocado mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar-jack cheese and wrap it all up inside a wheat tortilla. A flavor combination that is hard to resist!

Meatloaf
Our Smoked Meatloaf is not exactly like your mom used to make, but it's definitely every bit as good! (Dare we say... better!) Juicy ground beef is seasoned with veggies and spices, then we add our own Wobbly Boots BBQ twist by slow-roasting the handmade meatloaf instead of baking it. This mouthwatering dish is served open-faced with green beans, smashed potatoes, and beef gravy. Absolutely one of our best!

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
This appetizer featuring a small sea creature offers BIG flavor! We take six large gulf shrimp and wrap each one individually in our hickory-smoked bacon. After that, the pairing is grilled to perfection before coming out of the kitchen for you to enjoy.

Reubens
Notice that this sandwich is listed as plural because we've got more than one way to cook up a Reuben at the Boot! In addition to the corned beef you're probably used to (although ours is, of course, house-smoked,) you can also choose to have it made with lean turkey breast or smoked sausage instead. The meat is joined by warm sauerkraut, 1,000 island dressing, and melted Swiss cheese, all grilled together on marbled rye bread.

Baked Potato Soup
Even on a hot summer day, our Baked Potato Soup is simply irresistible! (You'll be sitting inside with air conditioning, so why not?) This incredibly rich and creamy soup is full of big chunks of potatoes. That would taste great alone, but we also garnish it with cheddar-jack cheese, green onions, and crumbled bits of our hickory-smoked bacon. YUM!!!

Smoked Prime Rib
The taste of our Prime Rib Dinner makes it special, but the fact that you can only get it on Fridays and Saturdays after 5 pm makes it an extra-special weekend treat. You can order either a 10-oz, 14-oz, or 18-oz savory cut of Smoked Prime Rib with Texas Toast, our creamy horsey sauce, and your choice of 1 of our homestyle side dishes. Instead of TGIF, it's more like TGIPR!

There you have 10 very popular dishes from the menu at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach, but it's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the delicious dishes we have in store for you. You can get a quick look at the Wobbly Boots menu online

Of course, you'll get a much better look, plus all the amazing scents, followed by the terrific taste, if you just go ahead and head on over to our Lake of the Ozarks family restaurant instead! We'll expect to see you soon.
