A New Great Bourbon Bar of America Named - Wobbly Boots Roadhouse!

Bourbon and BBQ go together deliciously, which is why we take pride in having an excellent selection of bourbons for you to choose from at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. Our efforts to provide the best bourbon at the Lake of the Ozarks was recently recognized by the Great Bourbon Team from GreatBourbon.com! We have a certificate to prove it plus many of the tastiest bourbons in America for you to try when you visit us.

What Makes Bourbon Great
The experts at GreatBourbon.com make it their goal to celebrate the skill and dedication that goes into making a finely crafted bourbon whiskey. First and foremost, we'd like to share what they have to say about what makes a bourbon great; American Heritage, Versatility, and Drinkability. The following descriptions are from www.GreatBourbon.com.

American Heritage
Bourbon making can be traced back to the late 18th century in our country's infancy and stands as a uniquely American spirit known for quality and craftsmanship. Because of particularly specific and high standards, bourbon tastes different than other whiskeys such as Scotch, Irish, Canadian, or Tennessee whiskey. Bourbon must be made in America and predominantly from corn. This makes bourbon unique among all other styles of whiskey. Furthermore, bourbon is never stored in used barrels. New oak barrels age bourbon slowly over time so it garners a deep amber color and rich flavors as it matures. No artificial color or additives are ever added. Remember, all bourbons are whiskeys, but not all whiskeys are bourbons.

Versatility
The smooth yet complex flavor of bourbon makes it quite versatile for drinking many ways. The easily approachable taste can be enjoyed by connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike. Bourbon tastes magnificent straight up or on ice, but the depth of flavor makes for brilliant craft cocktails and classics, like the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned.

Drinkability
Smoother and more approachable than other whiskeys, bourbon has inherent flavors of vanilla, oak, fruit, spice, and honey. This depth of flavor is subtle and complex, but not overpowering, making bourbon easy to enjoy.

Bourbon at the Boot
One of our favorite events to host here at our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant and bar is the Bourbon Pairing Dinners. During these special evenings in the winter our creative chef comes up with a multi-course gourmet dinner and we pair a savory bourbon to go along with each. Keep an eye out for our next one, because it is a night both whiskey-lovers and food-lovers alike enjoy.

As for the rest of the time, you can enjoy our amazing selection of quality bourbons 7 days a week with your lunch, dinner, or on their own. We are continuously adding to our impressive collection, so be sure to ask your server or bartender exactly what we've got in stock. These are a few of the fantastic bourbons you can expect to find at Wobbly Boots BBQ.

Don't Miss AquaPalooza 2018 at Dog Days Bar & Grill

Most of the time this blog focuses on the best hickory-smoked BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks. This week we're using the page to tell you all about an exciting event happening at our sister restaurant Dog Days Bar & Grill... AquaPalooza 2018! It's the biggest one-day boating event at the Lake of the Ozarks, so we have no problem sharing our great customers with them for it. (As long as you come back to see us at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse again soon after!)

THE DETAILS

Saturday, July 15, 2017
1:00-5:00 pm
19 MM by water
1232 Jeffries Road, Osage Beach by land

The Concert
The main focus of AquaPalooza at the Lake of the Ozarks is the unbelievable 4-band concert taking place from 1-5 pm. They set up a special stage facing the lake, and the entire cove is filled with boats tied up together and people floating in between them all, including right in front of the stage. There will be hundreds of boats and thousands of people in the lake, but don't worry about having enough room, because you can see and hear the concert from the restaurant too.

This year's musical lineup includes:

Chad Bearden
The I-Berrys
Ryan Collins Band
Goddesses of Rock

The Food & Drinks
Dog Days is a part of the same Barrett Restaurant Group that Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is also a part of, so if you like the food we create, you're going to love theirs too. Their appetizer menu features the same Hickory-Smoked wings you've come to love at the Boot, but they've got a few different sauce choices for you to try while you're there. You can also enjoy Crab Legs, Gourmet Nachos, Beach Bowls, Burgers, Seafood, Steak, Salads, Specialty Sandwiches, and much more.

When it comes to drinks, they've got plenty of bars open to make sure that no one goes thirsty! You'll find them both inside and outside, with a swim-up bar at the pool and also the brand new Woof Top Patio bar area upstairs overlooking the pool and their fantastic lake view. On the menu are fantastic frozen cocktails, lots of delicious mixed drinks, and plenty of ice-cold beer in the can, bottle, and on draft.

Save Room For BBQ!
After a long day of fun in the sun, head on over to our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant to wind down and get out of the heat. You're going to be hungry for a big filling dinner after a full day of partying! Of course, if you're too wiped out after the event, go home and get some rest and then join us on Sunday for our All-Day Sunday Happy Hour instead. (Or swing on by for both!)

You've Gotta Try the Mule Drinks at the Boot!

Our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant & bar knows how to perfectly smoke just about every type of meat over hickory, and we know how to make an amazing cocktail to go along with it too! In addition to the 21 different beers we have on tap at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach, plus the many ice cold bottles of beer we keep in the cooler, we also have a fully stocked bar capable of mixing up all kinds of delicious drinks.

One of these drinks, in particular, is the Mule. It's more commonly known as a Moscow Mule, but we've taken liberties with the original ingredients to make up a few of our own different delicious variations, so "Mule" covers them all nicely. Have you heard of a Moscow Mule? If not, get ready to get thirsty!

The Original Moscow Mule
Contrary to what the name might lead you to believe, the original "Moscow" Mule was created in the United States, not Russia. In 1939, Jon G. Martin of G. F. Heublien Brothers out of Hartford, Connecticut, bought Smirnoff Vodka. (Not just a bottle, but the company.) Little did he realize at the time that Americans were not yet terribly fond of vodka, so the product proved extremely hard to sell.

Luckily, he knew Jack Morgan, the owner of a Los Angeles pub named Cock 'n' Bull. Morgan was having trouble selling his own house brand of ginger beer. The two men decided to help each other out and come up with a drink combining the two along with a squeeze of lemon (more commonly a lime today) and the classic Moscow Mule was born. Moscow is a nod at the correlation of vodka to Russia, and as for the Mule, well, we're not quite sure how they came up with that.

Martin traveled the country introducing bartenders to this new delicious cocktail. He added a copper mug as a publicity stunt, and once bartenders agreed to sell the drink, he took 2 Polaroids of them holding the copper mug and a bottle of Smirnoff. One photo would be left at the establishment for advertisement, while the other picture was taken to the next bar to show off the fact that their competitor was selling this popular new drink, so they should too! (Brilliant!)

Mule Drinks at the Boot
We took the classic taste of a Moscow Mule and added a few different delicious twists! Each one of these contains Missouri-made Ginger Beer and is garnished with a lime and an orange for added freshness and flavor. The difference is in the different liquors we use listed below.

Moscow Mule
360 Vodka

Zesty Mule
Absolut Citron or Mandarin

Johnny's Mule
Effen Apple

The Highball Mule
Basil Hayden Kentucky Bourbon

Mango Mule
Finlandia Mango Vodka

Mexican Orange Mule
Patron Sivler & Patron Citronage Orange

Cucumber Mule
Ketel Cucumber & Mint

Which of those flavors sounds good to you? Any one of them would pair wonderfully with the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks, so you really can't make a wrong decision! The next time you make your way to Wobbly Boots BBQ, consider giving one of these delicious drinks a try. It could become your new favorite go-to cocktail!

Why Do People Love BBQ So Much?

It was fairly easy for us to become one of the most popular restaurants at the Lake of the Ozarks. Creating the award-winning BBQ recipes that we're known for took some work, but the simple fact that our main focus is BBQ gave us an edge. Nearly everyone across the country loves BBQ (especially if they've tasted our version here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach!) Why do you think that is? We have a few ideas.

The Flavor
The art of BBQ requires patience because the best flavors come out when the cooking is done low and slow. Our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant chooses to smoke our meats. This process allows us to create the most tender, juicy, flavorful meats possible, always slow-smoking them over our favorite wood - hickory.

First, we generously coat the meats with our secret-recipe rub, then it gets a carefully selected amount of time in the smoker. Here, rather than being cooked directly over the heat, it is instead cooked next to it. The reason we use hickory is that it lends a rich, full-bodied flavor to all of our meats. Once it's done, those meats get a dose of our house recipe BBQ sauce, and the result is a mouthwatering flavor that is irresistible!

The Aroma
Once you walk into our dining room, and often-times the second you step out of your car in the parking lot, that amazing aroma of our meats slowly smoking over hickory hits you! It's a rare person that can keep their mouth from watering once that happens, which is quickly followed by the stomach rumbling, even if you weren't hungry the second before. (You sure are now!) Any food that can do that to your sense of smell is definitely one you want to treat your sense of taste with!

The Choices
BBQ, especially the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks that we happen to serve at the Boot, is also a very versatile meal. There are all kinds of delicious dishes to choose from, and we put them together in a variety of ways so that even the "same old meat" you usually order can be enjoyed in a delicious and fascinating new way. We serve savory hickory-smoked meats on their own, but also as an additional ingredient in nearly every dish that we serve. These meats include (but are not limited to):

  • Hand-Pulled Pork
  • Beef Brisket
  • Turkey Breast
  • Pit Ham
  • Smoked Sausage
  • Burnt Ends

Of course, we do realize that there are those rare individuals that do not enjoy the incredible taste of BBQ. (We don't understand it, but they do exist.) If you happen to be friends with one of these people, we still have lots of other delicious dishes on our menu that even they can enjoy, so everybody's happy!

The Boot Makes It Easy
The very best part about eating BBQ at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is the fact that we take care of all of the cooking for you! Even the most skilled grillmaster will admit, it takes a lot of work to make the best BBQ, so when someone else can do it beautifully, it's a lot easier to let them! All you need to do is show up and enjoy, and we'll even clean up the plates for you when you're done!

The next time you're in the mood for some mouthwateringly delicious, hickory-smoked BBQ, head on over to our BBQ restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks. In addition to the great flavor, amazing aroma, and multitude of choices, we'll serve it with a smile in a family-friendly atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. It tastes even better that way!
