Our Down Home Sandwiches Deliciously Hit the Spot

The best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks is what gets most people's attention when someone mentions Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach. Once you come in and get a look at our extensive menu, you realize we have a lot more than that to offer! There are also salads, soups, burgers, steaks, seafood, and a long, long list of savory sandwiches to try.

As a matter of fact, there are so many sandwiches and wraps on the list, we've divided it into two sections: Down Home and Gourmet. Next week we'll tell you more about our Gourmet Sandwiches, but today's blog is all about the Down Home Sandwiches on our menu.

Sandwich History
You might be surprised to learn that the general term of "sandwich" is said to be named in honor of John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. (Yep, that's a real thing!) Stories claim that Lord Sandwich invented the food combination of placing meat between two slices of bread. The details are debatable, but the story we found is very interesting.

Apparently, the Earl was an avid gambler and did not want to take time away from the gambling table to eat a meal during his many hours of play. He would instead have servants bring him meat between bread slices. That soon caught on and others at the table began ordering "the same as Sandwich." Another account suggests that rather than gambling, Lord Sandwich was so committed to working that it was his desk that he didn't want to leave. (That first story is a lot more fun!)

Down Home Sandwiches at the Boot
