5 Barbecue World Records

Our kitchen doles out the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks seven days a week. We offer up incredible, satisfying flavor with every order placed at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. That's quite a feat in intself, but here are a few record-breaking barbecue facts from the Guinness Book of World Records that we know our BBQ fans will find pretty cool.

LARGEST SERVING OF BARBECUED BEEF

30,231.99 pounds of raw beef were cooked up to make up 20,132.61 pounds of cooked beef on March 20, 2011 to celebrate the Frigorifico Pico's 30th birthday.  This incredibly delicious feat was mastered in General Pico, La Pampa, Argentina.  20,000 guests at the celebration anxiously ate it up!

LARGEST BARBECUE GRILL

The Discovery Channel's BIG! television show built the world's largest barbecue and presented it on June 20, 2004.  The incredible size of this barbecue allowed them to cook an entire pig, a 10-foot hot dog, and four turkeys!
The measurements equaled:  15 ft. 3.75 in. tall, 20 ft. 2.25 in. wide, and 8 ft. deep.  The grill itself is 96 square ft. wide and 8 ft. deep.

LARGEST BARBECUE ATTENDANCE

To earn this title, 45,252 people gathered at this event in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on August 18, 2013.  We bet they wish they had one of the two grills above to cook for all of those people on!

LONGEST BARBECUE

At a whopping 20,246 feet long, the longest barbecue was made in the Philippines on April 4, 2014.  8,000 people took part in making this record happen.  It was achieved in order to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city of Bayambang.  8,000 grills were connected to each other to form the longest barbecue, and over 6,000 bags of coal were used to heat it up.

LONGEST BARBECUE MARATHON

On April 27, 2014, Jan Greeff, in association with Car-Broil LLC, grilled for 80 hours!  It was for an event benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Columbus, Georgia.  During this 80 hours, Jan cooked 1,000 hot dogs, 200 pieces of corn, 104 pieces of chicken, 558 burgers, and 526 boereworse.  Over $10,000 was raised for the foundation.

A lot of work went into breaking those records, and we bet the participants had a lot of fun doing it.  If these world records have made you hungry for a bit of BBQ, come on over to the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and order some up.  We may not be in the Guinness Book of World Records (yet!) but Wobbly Boots Roadhouse has earned quite a few national awards for our amazing food.  Come on in and try it for yourself.
