Join Us For The 7th Annual Gala of Trees at the Boot!

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach has become the new home for one of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks - the Gala of Trees! You don't have to go to the trouble of finding a naked Christmas tree and dragging out your big box of ornaments this year. Instead, purchase a fully decorated one that is already beautiful and ready to display, all while helping out a couple of wonderful local organizations.

Annual Gala of Trees
Every year since 2010, the lake area has been taking part in this incredible holiday event. It originally took place at Bootleggers Sports Book & Grill, but will be making its debut at Wobbly Boots BBQ for 2016. The restaurant will be filled with completely decorated trees and wreaths, and patrons will be invited to bid on them through a silent auction. The highest bidder at the end of the event will get to take their tree or wreath home to display throughout the holiday season.

You will see a wide variety of unique themes and unusual ornaments at the Gala of Trees. There is sure to be something perfect for everyone, no matter what your holiday decorating style may be. It's a great way to save some time this season, but even better, it's a wonderful way to brighten someone else's holiday at the same time. All of the proceeds collected from the tree and wreath sales are given to Candyland and the Idiot's Club. Both of these organizations use the money to provide toys for lake area children that might not otherwise receive gifts this season.

Thursday, Nov. 17
This 3-day event begins with the Gala of Trees Kickoff Party on Thursday beginning at 5 pm. Tickets are $20 each, and everyone in attendance will enjoy delicious appetizers and soups, one glass of Gala Punch, and the exclusive chance to win the Gala Christmas Wreath that will be given away that very evening at 9 pm. The remaining silent auction trees and wreaths will remain on display for bidders throughout Saturday night.

Friday & Saturday, Nov. 18-19
All day and night on both Friday and Saturday, everyone is welcome to pay a visit to the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and check out these amazing, one-of-a-kind Christmas trees and holiday wreaths. The bidding is open to everyone, and the highest bid at the end of the day on Saturday will be declared the lucky winner.

To close out this awesome event with real style, we'll have the Barefoot Entertainer himself, Dale Blue, on stage Saturday night. Swing by, order up some dinner, and enjoy the entertainment while we wait to see who lays claim to these great holiday decorations.

You can help too!
The easiest way to help is by stopping by and making an impressive bid on one or more of the Gala trees. If you would like information about being a sponsor, please contact the event organizer, Christy Janssen, by calling 217-779-2768 or emailing cjanssen1970@gmail.com. Trees and wreaths are provided for you to decorate by Lake Regional Hospital. All you have to do is volunteer to provide the decorations, then put your imagination to work thinking up a design that will have everyone climbing over each other to bid on.

We can't wait to see the incredible trees and wreaths that everyone comes up with for Wobbly Boots Roadhouse's first time hosting the Gala of Trees. Be sure to mark your calendars now so that you don't miss a minute of the excitement!

Meet Our Lake Stock Fall Crawl Band - Fun House!

The Lake Stock Fall Crawl is happening this weekend on Saturday, November 5, 2016, and the best Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant & bar is excited to be a part of the fun! We'll have all the sports action playing in the background on our 21 TVs, incredible mixed drinks and ice cold beer, all of your Wobbly Boots Roadhouse menu favorites, and the best live entertainment on the pub crawl from Fun House!

If you frequented our sister waterfront restaurant, Dog Days Bar & Grill, over the summer, you may have had the pleasure of getting to know the talented musicians that make up Fun House already. They always brought in a fun, party crowd with their high energy dance rock music, and we expect nothing less from them this Saturday at the Lake Stock Fall Crawl. Expect a crowded dance floor from 9 pm - 1 am when you step into the Boot this weekend!

The team over at Dog Days got the chance to ask the band a few questions last summer, and this is what they had to say.

The Band
  • Jimi James  -  guitar, vocals
  • Eddie Hines  -  bass guitar, vocals
  • Tommy Dwyer - drums, vocals
  • Micah Collins  -  production coordinator (audio/ lighting)
How did the band come together?

The band formed two years ago, with the idea of focusing on current songs & artists, as there are already a ton of 80's, 90'. classic rock, country, and blues bands in the area.  We wanted to play something different that could get dancers excited.

What are some favorite or unique gigs you have played?

ALL of them, with summer shows at Dog Days at the top of the list of course! The attendance of bachelorette parties always promise an "off the hook" evening.

What's a party like at Dog Days when you guys play?

Absolutely some of my favorites... I love the lake and lake people... and the best party is at Dog Days.  Drinking, dancing, excited peeps... never a dull moment!!  Plus the staff is second to none.

What does a typical set list look like?

Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson / Bruno Mars
Happy - Pharrell Williams
Love Runs Out - One Republic
Treasure - Bruno Mars
Counting Stars - one Republic
Safe and Sound - Capital Cities
The Real Slim Shady - Eminem
Feels So Close / Summer - Calvin Harris
Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5
Don’t - Ed Sheeran
Geek in the Pink - Jason Mraz
Good Feeling - Flo Rida
Maps - Maroon 5
Lessons in Love - Neon Trees
Get Lucky - Daft Punk
Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
Forget You - Cee Lo Green

Who are some of your greatest musical influences?
All of it…….except polkas.

A lot of punk and new wave influences....but still love the classic cats like Sir Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, etc. etc......but I've come to appreciate a lot of current guys.

Party With Fun House at the Boot!
Make sure your hippy get-up includes some comfortable dancing shoes, because these guys will keep you on the dance floor all night long! You can check out some of the pub crawl details in last week's Wobbly Boots Roadhouse blog, and all of the most recent updates and detailed information at www.LakeStockFallCrawl.com.

Missouri Beers On Tap At The Boot

When you are looking for the best bar at the Lake of the Ozarks, we want you to think of us first. One way that we strive to make that happen is through the excellent draft beer options that we have to offer at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse.

Every day, we have a whopping 21 beers on tap. You will always find the old stand-bys, like Bud Light, Miller Lite, Sam Adams, and Blue Moon. The other taps change occasionally with seasonal beers and new brews that we would like to introduce to you.

Missouri beer, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, Lake of the Ozarks

Today we are featuring a few Missouri beers that we have on tap right now. If you are a craft beer lover, then you'll want to come in and give these Show-Me-State beers a try.

Bur Oak Brewing Company -
Boone Country Brown
Not too far away in Columbia, you can find the Bur Oak Brewing Company. Their brewmasters deliver meticulously executed, yet approachable, stylistic craft beers that are made to bring communities together. We are currently featuring their Boone County Brown.

This American brown ale is a rich brown porter style beer. This mellow beer goes down easily and has a smooth finish. You will taste notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee over a full bodied caramel backdrop. It pairs wonderfully with beef, roasted pork, BBQ, and chocolate desserts, which are all things that we just happen to serve right here at the Boot!

Urban Chestnut Brewing Company -
Oktoberfest Lager

St. Louis is home to this company that categorizes their unique brewing philosophy as "Beer Divergency." It's a new world meets old world brewing approach, combining American beer & European beer styles. They have a long list of beers that they produce regularly, and the one that we have on tap right now is their Oktoberfest Lager - Oachkatzlschwoaf (pronounced "oh-khut-zel-schvoaf.")

This is brewed every year especially for their Oktoberfest celebration. It is malty, yet well balanced, much like the beer served at Okboterfest in Munich. It's a brilliant amber in color with great clarity, and has a slight sweetness balanced by floral hops.

Springfield Brewing Company -
Greene Ghost IPA & Paul's Pale Ale
SBC is a staple of the Springfield, MO downtown community. They brew one of a kind, supremely drinkable beers, and the have been doing that since 1997. They have received many awards over the years, including the World Beer Cup gold for their Mayhem Marzen.

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse proudly serves 2 beers from SBC. The first one, Paul's Pale Ale, is brewed year-round and is a tribute to the founder of the company, Paul Meuller. It has a lightly sweet caramel malt body that is balanced by big citrusy American hops.

Their Greene Ghost IPA is only brewed June-November each year. It's flavor is kept in balance by the right blend of malts, the mashing profile, and fermentation control. In their own words, it "starts off with hops in the nose, then with a nice smack of hops on the kisser, followed by a lingering hoppy wonderfulness!" They suggest enjoying both of these brews with pulled pork nachos, which is one of our specialties!

Boulevard Brewing Company -
Unfiltered Wheat Beer
From Kansas City, we've got beer from this company that has grown to be the largest specialty brewer in the Midwest. They distribute to 31 United States and Washington DC. Since 1989 the brewery has remained dedicated ot the craft of producing fresh, flavorful beers using traditional ingredients and the best of both old and new world brewing techniques.

We offer their America-style wheat beer, which is a lively, refreshing ale with a natural citrusy flavor and distinctive cloudy appearance. It's their most popular brew and the best-selling craft beer in the Midwest.

Let us pour you a pint!
The next time you belly up to the bar at our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant, order up one of Missouri's finest brews. These will change from time to time to allow us the chance to bring you even more varieties, so be sure to come in before some of these are gone. We open at 11 am daily for lunch, and the bar keeps serving late into the night. You can also join us for Happy Hour at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse every Monday-Friday from 3-6 pm, and all day every Sunday!

Join Us For National Pork Month

You should never need an excuse to enjoy the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks, but if you're looking for a reason, October is National Pork Month! There is an extensive array of choices on the Wobbly Boots Roadhouse menu, and pork is the star of many of those menu items.

A Few Fun Pork Facts
October was the traditional time of year that pigs were marketed in the past, so celebrating that delicious meat this time of year makes complete sense. Pork is a very versatile, tasty, and healthy food. Did you know that pork...

  • ... is the most consumed meat worldwide.
  • ... has more protein than chicken.
  • ... is also high in zinc, iron, and B-vitamins.
  • ... can be: hickory-smoked (our personal favorite!), grilled, dry rubbed, fried, barbecued, and so much more!
  • ... is the most popular sandwich eaten in U.S. households in the form of the ham sandwich.

Pork Dishes at the Boot
You will find pork in some form in every section of our menu: smoked, grilled, fried, ,pulled, and don't forget the bacon! If you close your eyes and blindly point to a page on our menu, there's a good chance you'll land on a pork item. Here are a few examples of what you may want to order.

Smoked Meat - By the Plate or On a Bun
This is some of the award-winning BBQ that Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is known for. We offer our hickory-smoked Pit Ham and Pulled Pork served up on a fresh, locally baked kaiser roll or laid out on the plate next to our home-style side dishes. We serve both versions covered with our incredible, house-made BBQ sauce, but feel free to ask for it served "dry" and add the sauce yourself.

BBQ Pork Nachos
We cover tri-colored tortilla chips with spicy queso sauce, then pile on a heaping helping of our pulled pork. Additional toppings include: baked beans, cheddar-jack cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, and onions.

The Big Salad
Yes, we said salad! You get your choice of meats, which include the pulled pork or pit ham, or you may have chicken, buffalo chicken, beef brisket, or smoked turkey breast. The meat tops a large bowl of mixed greens with tomatoes, red onion, cheddar-jack & Provel cheese, plus your choice of dressing.

Country Fried Pork & the Hand-Breaded Pork Tenderloin
Breaded to order and fried to a golden brown, our famous pork tenderloin is available in both sandwich form (yet WAY bigger than the bun it's on) or served open-faced with smashed potatoes, country style cream gravy, and green beans.

Beale Street Burger
This is our porky/beefy tribute to the South! Our juicy, hand-pattied Black Angus burger is topped with savory pulled pork and creamy cole slaw.

Crusty Cuban
Two kinds of pork for the price of one! This sandwich has both our house pulled pork and pit ham, along with pickles, house mustard, and Swiss cheese, all stacked together and pressed to perfection.

Classic Pork Spare Ribs
From our "Bad to the Bone BBQ" section of the menu, this is a true BBQ-lover's treat! Juicy pork spare ribs are coated with our special dry rub and slow roasted over hickory logs.

Make your way to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse and try one of our many pork menu options this month. Above we have only listed a small portion of what is available to you at the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. Visit often and try them all!

A History of the Classic Moscow Mule

The best bar at the Lake of the Ozarks happens to reside inside of the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks! Not only can you watch all of your favorite sports action, enjoy Happy Hour 6 days a week, and order just about anything your heart desires from our fully stocked bar, but Wobbly Boots Roadhouse recently updated our drink menu too.

The latest collection of creative cocktails to be featured on our in-house drink menu are the perfect companion to any meal. You will find selections from a variety of different categories: Specialty Drinks, Frozens, Bourbon Avenue, Martinis, Classic Cocktails, and our incredible wine list. Today, we will be highlighting a popular classic that we have put a few of our own spins on - The Mule!

The Moscow Mule - NOT From Russia!
Contrary to what the name might lead you to believe, the original Moscow Mule was created right here in the good ol' U.S.A. In 1939, John G. Martin, of G.F. Heublien Brothers out of Hartford, Connecticut, bought Smirnoff vodka. Little did he realize, Americans were not too fond of vodka at the time and the product proved hard to sell.

Martin put his head together with Jack Morgan, the owner of a Los Angeles pub named Cock 'n' Bull, to come up with a way to move the vodka. Morgan's company produced their own house brand of ginger beer, which was also hard to convince customers to buy. In an effort to help each other out, they combined these two liquids, along with a squeeze of lemon, and a new cocktail was born. (Although today, you are more likely to have it with a squeeze of lime.)

Why the Copper Mug?
If you order a Mule drink, it's not authentic unless it is served in a copper mug. Many believe that this is because the copper keeps the drink the perfect, ice-cold temperature. While the copper mug does seem to make the drink much colder while you are drinking it, the original reason for the device was a publicity stunt.

Martin traveled the country introducing bartenders to this new delicious cocktail. Once sold, he would ask them to pose for a Polaroid picture holding the copper mug and a bottle of Smirnoff. One photo would be left at the establishment for advertisement, while the other picture was taken to the next bar to show off the fact that their competitor was selling this popular new drink, so they should too!

Mule Drinks at the Boot
Your favorite BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks offers an entire section of our drink menu that is filled with a unique variety of specialty Mule recipes. Every one of our Mule drinks is topped with Missouri-made Ginger Beer, then garnished with a lime and an orange for added freshness and flavor. Also, each one that you order will arrive in that infamous copper mug. Here are our versions of this classic cocktail.

  • Moscow Mule - Made with 360 Vodka
  • Zesty Mule - Made with Absolut Citron or Mandarin Vodka
  • Johnny's Mule - Made with Effen Apple Vodka
  • Fruity Mule - Made with Cruzan Coconut Rum
  • The Highball - Made with Basil Hayden Kentucky Bourbon
  • Rhubarb Mule - Made with Organic Rhubarb Tea Liqueur
  • Mango Mule - Made with Finlandia Mango Vodka
  • Seasonal Mule - Ask your server for the newest seasonal flavor option.

Any fan of the Mule will love our Wobbly Boots Roadhouse versions. If this is a brand new drink to you, then we believe ours will make you a fan. The next time that you stop in for a bit of the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks, order up one of our Mule Drinks. An excellent compliment to an incredible meal.
