Looking For Variety? Wobbly Boots Roadhouse's Menu Has Got It!

When someone mentions Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach, more than likely the first thought that comes to mind is our irresistible hickory-smoked BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks. That's awesome, as long as you also realize that the Boot's got a LOT more to offer than just that award-winning BBQ.

They say "variety is the spice of life" and baby, the Boot's got it! Dine with us and you're bound to find something to satisfy every diner at your table.

Award-Winning BBQ

To better explain the extensive variety offered at our BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, we'll go ahead and start with the obvious. BBQ at the Boot is a popular choice for diners in the lake area due to the hybrid-style of cooking we've cultivated to create all of those hickory-smoked flavors everyone loves! This style was inspired by the BBQ meccas of the U.S.A. - Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, and Texas.

The Boot's creative chefs combined our favorite parts of each of those styles to bring you the hickory-smoked goodness people can't seem to get enough of! Combined with our house recipe BBQ sauce, the taste sensation is truly tough to beat!

Soup, Sandwiches, & Burgers

We offer a different Soup of the Day each day but every single day you can order our famous Baked Potato Soup. (It's pretty popular around here!) You can enjoy those as a soup/sandwich or soup/salad combo or add a cup to any meal as an upgraded side dish.

If you'd like to upgrade your sandwich, we've got quite a few choices for you there too, with both BBQ and non-BBQ options! In the Sandwiches & Wraps portion of the menu, you'll find tasty treats like the Crusty Cuban, Hand-Breaded Pork Tenderloin,
Prime Rib French Dip, Texas Style Club, and our Salmon BLT.

As for our Black Angus Burgers, each one is made with a special blend of Black Angus chuck, brisket, and short rib cooked on a flat-iron grill. There are 7 different burgers to choose from daily and be sure to ask about our additional Burger of the Week when you come in too.

Great-Tasting Greens

When you're trying to add more vegetables to your diet, the salads at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse are exactly what you need. Full of fresh, healthy ingredients like mixed greens, tomatoes, avocado, and more, they are filling and satisfying.

As an added bonus, you don't have to miss out on those hickory-smoked meats when you go the salad route. Most of our salads have a great big, heaping helping of them as one of the main ingredients!

Savory Seafood

Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp is one of our most popular appetizers plus they pair perfectly with all of our steak dinners. You'll also find lots of other delicious seafood choices throughout the best menu at the Lake of the Ozarks. Some of these choices include a fried Catfish Dinner, Brown Sugar Salmon, the Smoked Salmon Wrap, and an incredible Fried Shrimp Po Boy, just to name a few.

Southern Comfort Food

We earn our credibility as a family restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks in part due to the incredible Southern comfort-style meals that are created in our kitchen. (That and the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere all around the restaurant.)

For anyone that enjoys foods "like Mom used to make," we've got what you're looking for! From the Hickory-Smoked Meatloaf to the Chicken Fried Chicken and Open-Faced Smoked Turkey, your mouth will be watering just reading about them on the menu! (Wait 'til you get a taste!)

Today's blog gives you a good idea of the incredible variety on the menu at our restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks, but we've barely scratched the surface! You can see a full menu on our website and even order Wobbly Boots BBQ to-go online while you're there. Of course, if you'd prefer to dine right here at the Boot and get a good look at the menu in person, well, we'd love to have you over for dinner!

Turn Up the Heat! Spicy Foods Can Be Good For You

If you enjoy spicy foods it is most likely because you think they taste great. Well, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach is here to tell you that not only are your taste buds getting a treat when you bite into something "hot" but you're also getting some health benefits at the same time. (Pretty "cool", huh?)

Our BBQ restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks has a few spicy delicacies on the menu. Below we've listed some of the reasons why you might want to begin adding more spicy foods to your diet. After that, we'll give you a peek at some of the delicious ways you can do that at the Boot.

Health Benefits of Spicy Foods

  • Stress Relief
Endorphins are released in your body when you consume spicy food. These "feel-good" hormones are like natural pain medication, they can reduce anxiety, and even ease the effects of depression.

  • Heart Health
"Bad" cholesterol can cause damage to a person's body, but eating chili peppers can lower the risk of this by increasing the breakdown rate of this type of cholesterol. Blood flow is also increased, improving heart function and lowering blood pressure.

  • Weight Loss
Peppers contain a spicy chemical called capasaicin which is great for boosting your metabolism. The effects can last up to 20 minutes after you have eaten. Foods with a little extra heat can also help you to feel full, which reduces cravings for salty, sweet, and fatty foods.

  • Eases Congestion
We have all eaten hot foods before that cause us to begin sniffling. This is because spicy items thin mucus, which is perfect when you have clogged nasal passages. The heat can even help with respiratory problems like bronchitis and asthma.

  • Cancer Prevention
The American Association for Cancer Research has stated that the capasaicin in peppers has the ability to kill some cancer and leukemic cells. It creates a reaction that lowers the risk of tumors too.

Menu Items With a Bit of Heat

Wobbly Boots BBQ has a few menu items that are ready to heat up your taste buds. Not too much spice to truly enjoy but instead, just the right amount! (Of course, if you need it hotter, we're happy to see what we can do!)

El Diablo Burger
A real mouth-burner! This incredible burger is topped with pepper jack cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and our zesty 6-pepper sauce.

Black & Bleu Burger
Our famous Farm Boy Burger spiced up with Cajun seasoning and topped with Bleu cheese crumbles. It's great with bacon added too.

6-Pepper Steak Po' Boy
Thin-shaved smoked prime rib and Swiss cheese topped with our 6-pepper sauce and served on a hoagie.

Hot Cheesy Stripper
Breaded chicken tenders tossed in our hot chipotle sauce with melted Provolone cheese on a hoagie roll.

Chipotle Buffalo Wobbly Wings
Juicy jumbo chicken wings coated in our house dry rub, slow-roasted in our hickory pit, and tossed in our very special version of a traditional Buffalo sauce. Our Wobbly Wings are also available Trashed (deep-fried before serving) or with one of the following sauces instead: BBQ, Original, or Teriyaki.

When you're ready to add a little "spice" to your life, head on over to our family restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. Let us know just how hot you want it and we'll make sure it's both spicy and delicious!

"Soup's On!" (Literally) for National Soup Month at the Boot!

The phrase "Soup's on!" is a popular expression used to let everyone know when a meal is ready and on the table. Since January is National Soup Month, we highly suggest actually having soup for that meal and some of the best soups you'll ever taste can be found right here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach.

Our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant offers two different types of soup daily. One is our very popular Baked Potato Soup (so irresistible, it's always on the menu) and the other is a rotating Soup of the Day. Here's a closer look at some of the hot, savory, mouthwatering soup options you can find at the Boot.

Our Famous Baked Potato Soup

This particular soup has become so very popular at our Lake of the Ozarks family restaurant that it has earned a permanent spot on the menu, available year-round, 7 days a week! It's rich, creamy, and everything you could possibly ask for when you're craving a hot bowl of soup.

Every serving is packed full of chunks of potatoes and garnished with cheddar-jack cheese, crumbled bacon, and green onions. It's a delight for all of your senses! First, you'll love the look of the colorful presentation, then the savory scent will hit you. Your taste buds will tingle with the first spoonful, and you'll immediately feel satisfaction deep in your stomach. You can't really hear our soup unless the person next to you is slurping it, but that's okay because you'll very likely be doing the very same thing! Your noise will cancel out theirs.

Soup of the Day

Although our Baked Potato Soup is hard to resist, some days you may be in the mood to try something different. For that very reason, we also offer a Soup of the Day that changes regularly.

Your server will be able to tell you what soup our chefs have masterfully created when you sit down to order. Some of the popular varieties that they've concocted in the past are listed below but they're always coming up with new and tasty ideas!
  • Cheeseburger SoupBeer
  • Cheese & Sausage Soup
  • Tortellini Soup
  • Creamy Cajun Chicken & Noodle Soup
  • Ham & Bean Soup
  • Vegetable Beef Soup
  • Chili
  • White Bean Chili

More Than Just Soup

A great big, hot, satisfying bowl of soup may be enough for your main meal some days but if you're in the mood for more than just soup, we've got you covered. There are a couple of different Soup Combo Meals on the menu to choose from that pair our amazing soups with something equally as tasty.

  • Soup & Salad
Enjoy a cup of your favorite soup paired with a crisp garden salad full of fresh ingredients and your choice of salad dressing.
  • Soup & Sandwich
In this case, you get a cup of your favorite soup paired with a grilled sourdough sandwich. Sandwich choices are:
    • Turkey & Swiss Melt
    • Ham & Swiss Melt
    • 4-Cheese Grilled Cheese (A grown-up version featuring American, Provolone, Monterey Jack, & Cheddar!)

Who is ready to celebrate National Soup Month with us, Wobbly Boots BBQ-Style? Whether you're craving a light lunch or hungry for a hearty meal with all the fixin's, you'll always find something that hits the spot perfectly at our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant & bar. The Catering Power of 3 Popular Restaurants

Our catering services are powered by the Barrett Restaurant Group, which brings the culinary genius of three diverse Lake of the Ozarks restaurants to you. These include Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, Dog Days Bar & Grill, and Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina.

You may request menu items featuring hickory-smoked BBQ, savory salads, succulent seafood, amazing Cajun cooking, awesome appetizers, and a whole lot more! We can custom-design menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner, receptions, holiday parties, seminar breaks, or any other type of gathering where people need to be fed. We can handle any size event, large or small.

Get It Delivered or Order Food To Go

For smaller gatherings at home or at the office where you don't need a whole lot of food delivered, consider ordering something to go from the Wobbly Boots Roadhouse menu.  This is also a great idea if you are attending a potluck and only in charge of one dish.

Choose from anything on our regular menu or in the case of our hickory-smoked meats and savory side dishes, you can "buy in bulk" to feed a crowd. New this year, you can even order Wobbly Boots BBQ to-go online, making it easier than ever!

Host Your Party At Our Place

Private rooms are available at all three restaurants for your event. (Yes, arrangements can even be made to host winter events at the seasonal venues!) All restaurants also give you access to our fully stocked bars.

Our Fried Pickles Are Kind of a Big "Dill"!

The southern United States, along with a few other BBQ meccas of the U.S.A., had a big influence on the hybrid-style of 'que we serve here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach. In addition to inspiring us to create the best hickory-smoked BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks, we also borrowed a few other southern favorites to fill out our extensive menu.

For example, fried pickles began as a delicacy throughout the southern United States. This delicious treat eventually headed north and we all fell in love with the taste too. Our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant found our own way to cook up this fantastic dish that makes it a "must-try" item from our appetizer menu.

Fried Pickles at the Boot
Here at the Boot, we serve up a half-pound of pickle chips with every order. They are hand-breaded in our specially seasoned flour, fried to a golden brown, and served with a delicious Chipotle Ranch dipping sauce. Either as a snack, an appetizer, or side dish, the fried pickles at Wobbly Boots BBQ are always an excellent choice.

So, Who Created the Fried Pickle?
As with many origin stories, there is more than one. There is a record of a "French Fried Pickle" recipe being published as early as 1962 for the Food Editors Conference in New York. That said, here are a few more claims which may be true.

Another popular story, which seems to have come about much too late to be the original, is from the Hollywood Cafe out of Hollywood, Mississippi. Their tale from 1969 begins with a crowded restaurant and a cook without enough catfish to feed them all. In desperation, he reached for the industrial-sized jar of dill pickles that was handy, rolled them in the catfish batter, dropped them in the fryer, and served them to the patrons. They were an immediate hit.

The most popular story, which seems to fit into a more plausible time frame, is out of Atkins, Arkansas. In 1963, Bernell "Fatman" Austin owned the Duchess Drive-In across the highway from the Atkins Pickle Plant. (FYI: Atkins is known as the pickle capital of Arkansas!) Staring across the street at the pickle plant, Bernell was inspired to create a recipe.

That particular recipe is a well-guarded, family secret to this day. You can now only get a taste of Bernell's original creation once a year at the annual Picklefest held each May in Atkins. The family dishes up about 2,500 orders of the "Fatman's Original Fried Dill Pickles" at every festival and the money raised is used for scholarships and charities that Bernell supported.

Sometime in the late 1990s, three high school friends brought the southern deep-fried pickle to the Minnesota State Fair, calling them the "Preferred Pickle." They were so popular, the same three friends began manufacturing them under KWF Foods and selling them to the foodservice industry.

The Boot's Are the Best!
It looks as if no one can quite agree on exactly how or when the fried pickle was created. One thing that we do know for sure is that the fried pickles at our Lake of the Ozarks family restaurant are the best darn fried pickles you've ever tasted! There's only one way for you to truly know that's a fact though, and that's to come into Wobbly Boots Roadhouse soon and give them a try! Believe us, you won't regret the trip!

10 Menu Items at the Boot You've Gotta Try!

The menu at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach is packed full of delicious dishes, each option more mouthwatering than the next! Newcomers to our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant often ask for suggestions of which of the many menu items they should order.

Depending on which server is asked, those suggestions may vary slightly. (There are just so many amazing foods to choose from!) If you're not sure exactly what to order the next time you're at Wobbly Boots BBQ, any one of the following dishes will make your taste buds very happy.

Wobbly Wings
Our JUMBO chicken wings have been bringing people to our Lake of the Ozarks family restaurant since we originally opened the doors. The house dry rub that we prepare them with is fantastic and the slow-roasting process over hickory turns them into the most mouthwatering wings you've ever tasted!

Many diners like eating our wings plain, right out of the smoker, but we've also got 5 other equally delicious ways to enjoy them.

  • BBQ - Our house recipe sauce, which is a great addition to anything!
  • Original - A mustard-based sauce like no other.
  • Chipotle Buffalo - Our version of traditional Buffalo.
  • Teriyaki - Sweet and delicious!
  • Trashed - Our smoked wings deep-fried before serving.

Ribs
You simply cannot run a successful BBQ joint without having some amazing ribs on the menu. Here at the Boot, we've got two amazing kinds to choose from.

Our dry-rubbed Baby Back Ribs and Classic Pork Spare Ribs spend the perfect amount of time in the smoker. Then they're lightly grilled and basted in our delicious house recipe BBQ sauce. We offer a half-rack option but if you get the full rack instead and can't quite finish it all, you'll have tasty leftovers to enjoy later! (Be warned though, it's hard to quit eating these once you get started, so come in hungry!)

Burnt Ends
This delicacy starts out as a part of our customer-favorite Beef Brisket but the small chunks from the ends of that are removed, double-rubbed, double-smoked, and coated in an incredible beer BBQ sauce. This extra special treatment turns them into the tender, flavorful pieces of beef that diners at the Boot can't seem to get enough of. They are only available while supplies last, but don't let that worry you. If we run out today we'll just make more tomorrow!

Pulled Pork Nachos
You might not expect to see nachos on a BBQ menu but it all makes sense once you see the taste-tempting toppings we put on our version. Tri-color tortilla chips are covered with spicy queso sauce and then topped with our own hickory-smoked pulled pork, baked beans, cheddar-jack cheese, tomatoes, and onions. That's a lot of deliciousness for just one plate!

Turkey Avocado Wrap
The Turkey Avocado Wrap isn't the only wrap on our menu but it's one that gets ordered often around her. The main ingredient is our hickory-smoked breast of turkey. We surround that with avocado, avocado mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar-jack cheese and then wrap it all up inside a wheat tortilla. A flavor combination that is hard to resist!

Meatloaf
Our Smoked Meatloaf is not exactly like your mom used to make but it's definitely every bit as good! (Dare we say... better!) Juicy ground beef is seasoned with veggies and spices, then we add our own Wobbly Boots twist by slow-roasting the handmade meatloaf instead of baking it. This mouthwatering dish is served open-faced with green beans, smashed potatoes, and beef gravy. Absolutely one of our best!

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
This appetizer featuring a small sea creature offers BIG flavor! We take six large Gulf shrimp and wrap each one individually in our hickory-smoked bacon. After that, the pairing is grilled to perfection before coming out of the kitchen for you to enjoy.

Baked Potato Soup
Year-round (even on a hot summer day) our Baked Potato Soup is simply irresistible! This incredibly rich and creamy soup is full of big chunks of potatoes. That would be great alone, but we also garnish it with cheddar-jack cheese, green onions, and crumbled bits of our hickory-smoked bacon. YUM!!!

6-Pepper Steak Po' Boy
We have quite a few different ways to enjoy steak here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, from dinners to sandwiches, and this particular sandwich is a flavorful favorite. Thinly shaved, mouthwatering smoked prime rib is topped with Swiss cheese and our own special 6-pepper sauce.

Cowboy Cobb Salad
We call this one the "King of Salads" because it's not just a few vegetables tossed together on a plate. In addition to a platter full of crisp greens, we generously top those with 3 of our hickory-smoked meats: turkey, ham, and bacon! Then we add even more flavor with hard-boiled egg, avocado, tomatoes, red onion, cheddar-jack cheese, and Provel cheese. This enormous salad is so big, we even offer it in a half-portion, just in case the full version is a little too much for you.

Well, there you have it, ten of the most popular menu items at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach. Be warned though, that's just a small portion of the many, many wonderful menu items you'll find here at the Boot! For a better idea, head on over and take a look at the Wobbly Boots Roadhouse menu online
