Smoked Prime Rib - A Weekend Specialty!

If you're in the mood for the fantastic flavor of prime rib, you can enjoy it 7 days a week on some of the sandwiches served at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach. Of course, if you're craving a hearty smoked prime rib dinner, well, you've got to wait until the weekend rolls around at our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant. Sure, other places may have it during the week but our version is totally worth the wait!   


Prime Rib Dinner at the Boot

The best Prime Rib Dinner at the Lake of the Ozarks is a special dish that we reserve for a weekend treat every Friday and Saturday night after 5:00 pm. We take extra care in preparing this hearty meal for you every weekend. (Of course, if you get a craving for steak any other day of the week, the Boots' Hand-Cut Ribeye Dinner is sure to hit the spot too.) 

Each serving of our incredible prime rib is hand-cut, perfectly seasoned, and slow-smoked to perfection. You may order it as either a 10-oz. 14-oz. or 18-oz. cut and it is served with a great big slice of Texas toast and your choice of one of our amazing homestyle side dishes.

More Prime Rib - 7 Days a Week

As we mentioned earlier, we do serve prime rib daily but during the week, it's in sandwich form. The shaved prime rib on the following menu items is definitely delicious enough to tide you over until you can get the entire steak dinner. 

Prime Rib Hot Beef
Shaved prime rib served over bread with smashed potatoes & beef gravy plus green beans.

Prime Rib French Dip
Thin-shaved smoked prime rib and melted Swiss cheese on a hoagie served with a side of au jus.

Prime Rib Melt
Succulent house-smoked shaved prime rib topped with Swiss on grilled sourdough bread served with our house-made horsey sauce on the side for an extra kick.

6-Pepper Steak Po' Boy
Thin-shaved smoked prime rib and Swiss cheese topped with our 6-pepper sauce.

March Means It's Time For Corned Beef & College Basketball!

What does the month of March make you start thinking about? For most people, it's the coming of spring. We agree that is a wonderful event but around this BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, our first thoughts wander to memories of years past. Those memories include enjoying Wobbly Boots Roadhouse's smoked corned beef on St. Patrick's Day and watching all the March Madness basketball excitement with a cold pint or two! 

Those things bring us, as well as our regular visitors, so much joy that we'll be doing them all again this year too! And hey, if you aren't a "regular" at the Boot, maybe joining us for some fun this month will turn you into one. 

Smoked Corned Beef & Cabbage

On St. Patrick's Day, Wednesday, March 17, 2021, our already amazing menu gets a very special addition! For one day only, you can get a great big plate of our incredible version of smoked corned beef & cabbage. Of course, the earlier you come in, the better. We always expect this special to be extremely popular and go fast! 

We realize that many of you will be starting the celebration early over St. Patrick's Weekend prior to the actual holiday. Even though the corned beef & cabbage won't be available until Wednesday, that doesn't mean you can't head to Wobbly Boots BBQ over the weekend too! 

We've got plenty of other delicious dishes on the menu to satisfy all your cravings plus a fully-stocked bar that is sure to keep the drinks flowing. Also, if you join us on Sunday, our Sunday Happy Hour specials will be going on all day long!

The NCAA basketball championship tournament is coming very soon. Since the Boot has 21 TVs placed all around the restaurant and bar plus a giant projection screen we bring out on special occasions, many say that we're the best place to watch sports at the Lake of the Ozarks! Also, since many of these games take place during our regular Happy Hours (Monday-Friday from 3-6 pm and all day every Sunday), you can even enjoy some delicious discounts while you cheer on your favorite teams.

Celebrate National Pig Day With These Pleasantly Perfect Pork Dishes!

National Pig Day is coming up next week on Monday, March 1. The gang at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach has a few very delicious ideas on how to observe this particular holiday. Among our wide variety of mouthwatering hickory-smoked meats, pork is a very popular choice. Here are some of the fantastic ways you'll find this tasty animal at our family restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.  

Appetizers

Our appetizer menu has a couple of irresistible pork items on it. This first dish is even one of our Happy Hour specials 6 days a week!

  • BBQ Pork Nachos
    This great big plate of tortilla chips is covered with our spicy queso cheese sauce, pulled pork, baked beans, cheddar-jack cheese, tomatoes, and onions all served with a side of jalapenos. Enjoy this tasty treat as a full order or a half-order.
  • Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
    Some might assume the shrimp is the focus of this dish, but their fantastic flavor is elevated by the presence of everyone's favorite pork product - bacon! This order comes with 6 large Gulf shrimp individually wrapped with our hickory-smoked bacon and grilled to perfection. They are great plain but also taste incredible tossed in our chipotle Buffalo sauce. 

Smoked Meats

Our hickory-smoked meats can be ordered on a bun in 5-oz or 8-oz portions or you may choose to enjoy them on a plate without the bread instead. If you're in the mood for "the other white meat", we've got it in two ways for you here. Our BBQ is always served wet (aka - sauced) but feel free to ask for it "dry" and add your own preferred amount of our house-recipe BBQ sauce.  

  • Pulled Pork
    Slow-smoked, hand-pulled, and trimmed
  • Pit Ham
  • Lean, thin-sliced, and double-smoked

Pork Sandwiches

You'll find a long list of hard-to-resist pork sandwiches on the menu at our BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. In addition to the smoked meat sandwiches mentioned above, these delicious dishes are available too. 

  • Hand-Breaded Pork Tenderloin
    An Iowa tradition mastered perfectly right here in mid-Missouri! This generous cut of pork tenderloin is hand-breaded and fried to a golden brown, served with lettuce, tomato, and onion.
  • Southern Style Pork
    A pulled pork sandwich with a Carolina twist! It's topped with our creamy coleslaw.
  • Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich
    A juicy 7-oz. chicken breast topped with grilled ham, teriyaki sauce, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and grilled pineapple.
  • Wrangler Wrap
    A wheat tortilla stuffed with three of our signature items; pulled pork, baked beans, and creamy coleslaw. 
  • Crusty Cuban
    House-pulled pork and pit ham, plus pickles, house mustard, and Swiss cheese served on a hoagie roll and pressed to perfection.
  • Texas Style Club
    Ham, bacon, turkey, lettuce, tomato, Provolone cheese, and roasted pepper and tomato aioli served on wheatberry bread. 
  • Big Texas BLT
    This homestyle sandwich is loaded with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo all stacked between two pieces of Texas toast. 

Burgers

While the burgers themselves are made from a special blend of black Angus, chuck, brisket, and short rib, the following burger creations have some of our pork added on top along with a few more irresistible toppings. 

  • Hickory Bacon BBQ Cheeseburger
    Now that's a mouthful! A half-pound burger topped with our house recipe BBQ sauce, hickory-smoked bacon, and good old American cheese. 
  • Ham, Mushroom, & Swiss Burger
    Our famous Farm Boy Burger topped with pit ham, sauteed mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. 
  • Beale Street Burger
    A tasty tribute to the South! Our fantastic burger topped with pulled pork and creamy coleslaw. 

Entrees

Going a step beyond appetizers and sandwiches, the following meals are all "must-try" menu items when you dine at Wobbly Boots BBQ! (Of course, we say that about all of our menu items but since it's true, we just can't help ourselves!)

Oh baby, it's cold outside! Of course, winter is nearly here (it's official on 12/21/20) so it's really no surprise that the temperatures keep dropping. That puts all of us here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach in the mood for some good ol' down-home Southern cooking!

Meatloaf Gets a Delicious Upgrade at the Boot!

 We love our food "holidays" here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Osage Beach. If you bother to look for these special days on a calendar, there is something being celebrated every day of the year and most days, it involves food. YUM! 

Last week's blog covered National Pulled Pork Day (did you celebrate?) and this week, we've got National Meatloaf Appreciation Day coming up on Sunday, October 18. Sure, meatloaf sometimes gets a bad rap but anyone that thinks they don't like it has obviously never tasted the amazing smoked meatloaf served at our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant

Today, we've got a quick look for you at the ancient origins of meatloaf followed by an irresistible look at our very own special homestyle version from the kitchen at the Boot. 

Meatloaf's Ancient Origins

The origin of this delicious loaf of meat dates back as early as 5th century Rome. The recipe found in one of their ancient cookbooks was made by mixing chopped meat, bread, and wine. Meatloaf is also a traditional dish of Germany, Scandinavia, and Belgium, and it has been linked as a "cousin" of the Dutch meatball.

The origin of modern-day American meatloaf comes from a dish called "scrapple." German-Americans in Pennsylvania made this by combining leftover pork scraps and trimmings with cornmeal and other seasonings. This particular recipe was pan-fried before being served.

The meatloaf of today didn't begin showing up in cookbooks until the late 19th century. It was a very popular dish during the Great Depression because it gave families the ability to stretch inexpensive meats into a large meal. Lots of filler ingredients could be added to make it serve more people, and many housewives went so far as to create "meatless" meatloaves.

Meatloaf Gets an Upgrade 

You'll find a marvelous version of meatloaf in the Southern Comfort Foods section of the menu at our Lake of the Ozarks family restaurant. Comfort food is a term that is used to describe dishes that are fairly simple to prepare and often have some type of nostalgia associated with them for the diner. You know, something like Mom or Grandma used to make.

Well, the incredible type of meatloaf that we serve is NOT your grandma's meatloaf! Also, while the ingredients for meatloaf are fairly easy to mix together, the special touches we add to ours is anything but simple. 

The biggest difference that makes the most mouthwatering impact is the fact that our meatloaf is slow-smoked over hickory. Hickory-smoked ground chuck is seasoned with fresh veggies and savory spices. Once it has reached the perfect degree of doneness, we serve it up open-faced with brown gravy, smashed potatoes, and green beans. The perfect meal for a fall day!

The Tastiest Way to Celebrate National Pulled Pork Day is at The Boot!

National Pulled Pork Day lands on Monday, October 12 this year. The crew here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is pretty excited about that because, when you spend as much time as we do around the best smoked meats at the Lake of the Ozarks, you truly start to appreciate them! (Our regular diners totally get that!) 

Our Lake of the Ozarks BBQ restaurant offers an excellent variety of savory smoked meats, including beef brisket, turkey breast, pit ham, smoked sausage, wings, ribs, chicken, and more. The mouthwatering pulled pork is quite popular among these and, as you will see from today's blog, a very versatile meat. Here are some of the many delicious ways that pulled pork is used at the Boot.   

Pulled Pork - On a Plate or On a Bun?

The irresistible pulled pork at Wobbly Boots BBQ is used as an ingredient on many dishes throughout our menu but it's every bit as enjoyable on its own! We make it so incredibly tasty by slow-smoking it over hickory for 16 hours. After that, it is hand-pulled and trimmed. 

This pulled pork can be ordered as a sandwich on a locally-baked Kaiser roll in either a 5-oz. or 8-oz. serving. You can also enjoy it as a BBQ dinner plate by itself or joined by some of our other amazing smoked meat choices.
