How To Eat BBQ in 5 Simple Steps

Eating the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks without making a huge mess in an acquired skill.  You'll want to visit us here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse often to get in plenty of practice to become one of our experts.  Below we have listed some helpful tips to get you started.  Follow these, and you just might get out of here without evidence of what you've eaten all over you.

1.  Prepare

Before the food gets to the table, there are a few things that you can do to get ready for the delicious mess that is headed your way.  Start when you pick out your clothes.  Wear something dark that doesn't show stains easily. (Just in case!)  If you wear white, you are practically guaranteeing that the BBQ will land on you at some point.

Make sure the napkin dispenser is near your side of the table, placed strategically next to a pile of wet naps.  Place one (or two) in your lap, and if you are too worried about getting carried away, tucked into your shirt.    You will also want to make sure that you are seated at a table large enough for your mountain of BBQ-smeared napkins to not be spilling over into your neighbor's personal dining space.

2.  Pick Your Form

Do you prefer to eat with your hands, or a knife and fork?  Unless you are trying to be super-tidy about this, we highly suggest skipping the utensils. (Because where is the fun in that?)  You prepared to get messy in step #1, so grab that BBQ and take a big ol' bite.  It might help to use the tips of your fingers to hold the food, keeping most of the tasty house-made Wobbly Boots BBQ sauce confined to the ends of your hands as much as possible.

3.  Lean In

Just in case you didn't expect to stop for BBQ and ended up wearing white, leaning over your plate as much as possible will hopefully keep any drippings where they belong.  Expect to forget about this every once in a while because you are so consumed with the euphoria of the delicious flavors in your mouth, but if you've covered your lap and shirt with napkins earlier, you might be safe.

4.  Savor

Each bite is likely to add a little sauce to your hands and face, so hopefully you are with people that don't mind letting you stay a little messy and just enjoy the experience.  They should be just as saucy as you are at this point, and if they're not, you know they are super jealous!  Instead of wiping it all away with a towel, lick your lips and fingers.  "Finger-licking good" is a common saying around here for a very good reason.

5.  Clean Up

Once your plate is empty, or at least as empty as your stomach allowed this time around, that's when you can worry about wiping off those last bits that didn't get licked away.  Your wet naps are right there, and we've got plenty of soap in the bathroom to clean you up with before you bid us farewell.

There you go, 5 simple steps to help you make your way through a mouth-watering BBQ meal at the best BBQ restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.  If you use these tips, you just might make it away from the table looking as spiffy as when you arrived.  That being said, we won't say a bad word about you if you decide to just dive in and leave stained, as long as you leave smiling!  Eating at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse should be fun and satisfying, so don't sweat the sticky stuff, just dig in and enjoy.
